Author's pov

"She is not alone. Her family is with her." Said a voice grabbing everyone's attention.
It was none other than Krish Sehgal.

"Okay, forget it now. All of you need to stop arguing. At least look at the situation we are in right now!" Agastya said, ending the argument.

"When did you come back?" Sambhav asked Krish.

"My flight landed an hour ago. I wanted to surprise mom and dad, so i called Agastya, and he told me about Brinda, so i came to the hospital directly." Krish elaborated. He was busy with his film shooting and promotion.

"Krish, you go and drop Uncle Aunty home. They are going to fall sick sitting here and take riddhi with you too, and agastya, can you please handle the media." Sambhav said, looking between the brothers.

"You don't have to say please, Sambhav." Agastya said as everyone left other than Sambhav and Adhvik despite Sambhav asking him to leave multiple times.

A few hours later**

"I want to have a word with the patient's guardian." Dr. Gupta said, looking serious.

"I am her brother doctor." A tensed Sambhav replied.

"Okay! I'll be in my cabin." Dr. Gupta said and left along with Sambhav.

*IN DR. GUPTA'S CABIN

"Mr. Mittal take a seat first." Dr. Gupta said, and Sambhav nodded and sat on the chair.

"The situation of your sister is very critical. The accident was very severe. She had a major head injury along with multiple fractures." Dr. Gupta said, taking a deep sigh.

"Wi...will she be okay?" Sambhav asked, trying to hold back his emotions.

"We tried our best, Mr. Mittal, but her body is not responding to the treatment positively." Dr. Gupta informed.

"Dr. Gupta, get the best doctors from around the world but save my sister. There's no issue about money. Just save her." Sambhav said more like pleaded.

"Mr. Mittal doctors are not god. We are trying our best, but if she doesn't wake up within 24 hours, then she might slip into a coma or worse..." Dr. Gupta informed, and a tear escaped Sambhav's eyes.

"We still have 24 hours, right?" Sambhav said hopefully.

"Honestly, Mr. Mittal, there is a very slim chance of her waking up within 24 hours since the accident was fatal, and her body is not really responding to treatments." Dr. Gupta said, crushing his hopes.

"I... uh... I get it doctor but please don't inform my parents yet." Sambhav said, nodding defeatedly.

"Sure, Mr. Mittal." The doctor said, and Sambhav left the cabin.

Sambhav decided to keep the news to himself, hoping that his sister would wake up and he doesn't have to share this news at all.

"What did he say?" A restless Adhvik asked.

"I told you to leave with everyone. Why are you still here?" Sambhav asked sighing defeatedly.

"I'll leave. Just tell me how she is." Adhvik asked in a hoarse voice.

"She'll be okay. Don't worry." Sambhav said, holding back a sob.

"Tell me the truth. What did Dr. Gupta tell you?" Adhvik asked again, knowing that he was clearly lying.

Sambhav was broken seeing his little sister on deathbed and keeping everything to himself and taking care of everyone left him emotionally drained.

"She.... she's not okay! The next 24 hours are very crucial to her. If... if she didn't wake up.... she might slip into a coma." Sambhav said as a sob escaped his mouth, and Adhvik engulfed him into a most awkward hug to ever exist.

"We shouldn't lose hope." Adhvik said, and Sambhav came to his senses and broke the hug, looking at Adhvik with anger remembering the earlier conversation.

"Now i told you, so please leave. Krish would be on his way back to the hospital only. We'll stay here." Sambhav said, and Adhvik agreed no matter how much he wanted to stay.

Adhvik felt guilty about the last conversation he had with her. How much he had hurt her. He still doesn't know what's true and what's a lie. His heart is telling that his orange won't lie to him, but a part of him is saying that no matter how bad parent Abhimanyu is, he still can't stoop this low.

His inner turmoil has messed up with his peace. He has no idea how to face Brinda again after what he said. He has never regretted anything more in his life.

"I'll drop you." Adhvik raised his head on hearing the voice only to find Krish standing there. He didn't have a car right now, so he agreed.

Adhvik's pov

We got settled in the car, and he started driving to my place.

"Thank you for helping Brinda today. It really means a lot." Krish said, breaking the awkward silence.

I preferred the awkward silence.

"No need to thank me." I said nonchalantly, looking at the road.

The rest of the ride remained silent. Soon, we reached my place, and i got down his car, murmuring a small thank you.

"Adhvik, what happened? Did you again do anything stupid!? How can you....." Nishtha started scolding me worried sick because the last time she found me drenched in blood didn't end well.

Who'll tell her that it's not my blood, and yet it's giving me much more pain, and this pain is unbearable.

"It's.... it's not my blo...od. It's Brinda's." I murmured.

"Whaaaat?" Nishtha asked in shock.

"She.. she met with an acc...ident." I murmured as my voice started cracking.

"Whaat? Is... is she okay now?" Nishtha asked worriedly.

"N...no." I said and broke into sobs. Nishtha quickly engulfed me into a hug, patting my back.

"She... she was looking... so pale. She... she was so hurt. She... she was barely breathing.... I... I can't bear... seeing her like this...!" I started sobbing as she kept patting my back.

"She.... she was always there for me. No matter what and... and wh.. what did i do? I... i have hurt her... so much. I... i don't want to lose her." I kept blabbering, and she kept patting my back.

"She's going to be okay, Adhvik. She is strong. She'll be okay. Don't worry! Have some food and then rest in your room. You just got discharged from the hospital and take a shower first. You are drenched in blood." Nishtha said, breaking the hug, and i nodded.

"Bhai? Are you okay? Why are you drenched in blood?" A worried Rudra asked.

"It's not mine. Brinda got into an accident." I mumbled in a tone barely audible.

"What? Is Brinda di okay now? Bhai, she helped us so much yesterday when you were in hospital. We should also be there for her and her family!" Rudra exclaimed worriedly.

"I came back from hospital only, and she's going to be okay. All of us shouldn't go to the hospital. It'll be uncomfortable for her family, too." I explained, and Rudra nodded.

"Fine, take a bath and come fast. Let's have dinner together. It's been so long since the three of us spent some time together." Rudra said, and as much as i want to deny, i didn't. Maybe this way, I'd be able to divert my mind from Brinda.

Just 24 hours and she'll wake up, as good as new! Think positive, Adhvik. She's Brinda, she won't lose so easily. She's a fighter.
