They had finished eating a while ago and the stack of papers Naruto had been pushing himself through didn't seem to get any smaller. Sasuke even took over a few piles just to lighten the load up. He sat on the couch off centered to the room, the same one that, well, changed their lives you could say. The unspeakable night, that has still been festering in both of their minds.

It was peeking midnight and every so often Naruto would glance over at him to see where he was at, and just as he would look back down to his own pile of work, Sasuke would glance over at him to see if he was still awake. It wasn't a surprise when the blonde would just spontaneously fall asleep in mid-work, and honestly he was expecting him to do just that eventually soon, but what the raven didn't know was that Naruto has been battling with an undiagnosed sleep disorder since this whole office gig became a thing. So in the blondes head he was wide awake, even if his body was exhausted. In fact Sasuke was getting tired which wasn't exactly like him. He was a night owl, could stay up however long he needed, but paperwork wasn't really his thing. It was boring and lengthy. It wasn't that he couldn't do it, he was just tired of doing it. He could only imagine how Naruto felt.

Two in the morning was pressing, and Sasuke's eyes were starting to burn, he glanced over at Naruto and caught him looking back. It wasn't but a millisecond later that the Hokage shivered and looked back down making the raven huff from a bit of frustration. "Tch...Are you not tired?" He asked hoping the blonde would cave and agree it was time to go home, but his booming ego fought back. "No, I couldn't sleep right now even if I wanted too." This caught Sasuke's curiosity. "Hn? How come?" He placed the pen he was using down and leaned back into the couch, resting his arms across the back side of it, not daring to look away until some form of eye contact was made. But Naruto was hesitant, he didn't want to look at him because he knew his facial features would expose his facade. Ignoring the question would only lead to more questions so he had to come up with something.

"Too much caffeine...?" The way he said that wasn't very confident only showing he was questioning himself, which was much of an eye opener for Sasuke than he anticipated. "Oh really?" The sarcasm that drenched his words gave him a clear entry to finding out the truth. Cobalt eyes finally made their way to Sasuke's and once seen they locked, then the stuttering began. "I-..uh.." Naruto's eyes started drifting away and then back at him as if trying to come up with something, Sasuke wasn't going to listen to any excuses and before he knew it he got up from the couch and began walking over towards the blonde. "It's-...just been h-hard..." The Uchiha nodded his head as if listening and understanding but still making his way towards him.

The Hokage's heart started pattering again, but this time he was nervous, maybe even a bit frightened. He had no idea what Sasuke was intending and he didn't really want to find out. "Y-You know?" He leaned back in his chair trying to space out their distance but he just kept coming forward and the next thing he knew Sasuke was grabbing his papers and stacking them up. "H-Hey, I'm not done with that yet." He didn't dare try to stop him but at least he could try and justify his rights. "Yes you are." There it was again, that stern, not so gentle voice. He started noticing it more when Sasuke wasn't going to be easy on him. "I-..." Unable to back his own words up he silenced up quickly. Letting him clear his desk.

After making sure there was nothing visible that Naruto could see for him to work on he stood up straight and leaned his lower end against the desk beside him, crossing his arms and glancing down at him. Naruto could only roll back in his chair just a little before feeling like he wasn't allowed to go any further, their eyes met again and Sasuke's demeanor gave him goosebumps. "You don't have to go home, but you will need to sleep." Naruto's brows furrowed with weakness, like he was automatically giving in to submitting to the Uchiha's orders. He couldn't tell him no, it would lead to a fight, and once again it seems Sasuke was right. Sleep was a mandatory thing for the human body, and fighting it would only cause problems in the near future. But that didn't mean he wanted to listen to him. And what fun would it be if he didn't try and argue it. "N-No...I don't want to." Like an arrogant child of course that's what he chose to say.
