it had been a year since savannah had met mira. a year since she had started her journey to becoming a better person. they were in university now.

she felt proud of herself for being able to make it. she never thought she'd get this far. she never saw herself in the shoes she wore at that exact moment. and she had hwang mira to thank for it all.

the sun was glaring upon the campus that day, it was hell-ish. savannah hated the summer heat. the sweat ruined her favorite top and her hair, she wasn't liking any bit of walking around campus under the blazing hot sun.

it was all worth it, though. she was going to see mira. her best friend had texted her, telling her she had something exciting to announce and to meet her at their spot.

their spot was under a tree near the basketball court. it was far away from the art building, yes. but not many people went there. it was perfect.

"sav!" mira exclaimed and rushed to hug the girl covered in sweat, "ew, did you take a sweat bath?" she laughed as she pulled away from the hug
"dude, it's way too hot to be outside you can't blame me"
"look on the bright side! this is peak ice cream season- I brought some for us"

the korean held up the tub of icecream in her hands and showed it to the Australian who watched as her friend opened the box to reveal a tub of melted strawberry ice cream.

there was silence for a while before mira chuckled, embarrassed, "forget that. I'll buy you some more after wards. whats important is...."
"just spill it!!"
"I'm pausing for dramatic effect, geez. anyways, I GOT A BOYFRIEND!"
"YO WHAT?!"

mira and savannah squealed in excitement, jumping up and down as they held hands. smiles wide on both their faces.

"i didn't even know you were talking to someone!" the blonde said, hitting mira's arm who's smile decreased in size.

savannah couldn't read her expression properly and she was too blind to notice how her expression differed from the words she said.

"i just wanted to give you a nice surprise, thats all." the girl shrugged
"you have to tell me who he is now though!"
"uh sure! his name is mark, he's studying music and uh, yeah I don't know what else to tell you" the girl awkwardly chuckled and rubbed the back of her neck

"well, tell me about how you met and how you guys started going out! i want each and every single detail, okay?"
"okay sav-"

"sav!" yeonjun shook the girl's shoulder, bringing her back to the present.

she tore her eyes off where the tree was supposed to be and looked at the guy who was shaking her violently.

"are you okay?" he asked, concerned
"oh yeah just.. thinking."
"the others are already ahead of us, man. we should go, the game is gonna start soon."
"i..okay."

savannah took one last glance at where there only stood a tree stump now. the tree now long gone, the memories made under it's shade forever haunting savannah's brain.

it wasn't that hot now. instead, the afternoon was chilly and pleasant to be outside in. savannah wasn't sweaty at all. there wasn't a tub of melted strawberry ice cream on the grass. mira wasn't there.

everything had changed.

the basketball court was buzzing with excitement and expectation. it felt like almost everyone had shown up- maybe because it was a friday night and people wanted to let loose after a hectic uni week.

the large group of friends settled down on the front bleachers and chatted amongst the loud crowd, adding on extra decibels to the noise as they argued about apple juice being better or worse than orange.

savannah couldn't seem to focus on the debate around her at all. she was staring blankly at the basketball hoop, reminded of how it was mira's favorite sport to play.

she hated it.
the girl had taken over her life.
why was it so hard to move on?

"savannah, are you okay?" heejin asked and held the girl's hand.
she nodded, sending a half-hearted smile heejin's way, "yeah, just tired.. I'm gonna sleep like a baby when I get back, I swear."

"babies aren't peaceful sleepers, though. a single noise and those tit suckers start blaring their firetruck siren as if the whole building is on fire" meihui said, joining the conversation
"that's actually so true, though. if chenle was here, he'd agree too." kai said

"wait speaking of, isnt that him? is the game starting already?" jeno pointed to a boy with a blue jersey, standing besides many other blue jersey wearing guys. the opposing team of the science students wore orange jerseys.

"the game is starting!" donghyuck excitedly stood up and began cheering at the top of his lungs as the rest followed and began yelling and howling after him.

the friend group was also dressed in blue to show their support for mark and chenle who would be playing.

some of them had even made banners for their friends. the one for mark decorated with watermelon stickers and chenle's was decorated with dolphin stickers. jisung made a special one for his best friend, it said "stephen lele for the win!"

savannah tried her best to concentrate on the scene before her but she just couldn't. her mind kept going back to mira.

she just wished she'd gain clarity on everything soon so she could move on and focus in her life without getting distracted by everything. after all, she had always called closure the key to moving on. yeah. that was it. she couldn't move on because she never quite figured out what happened.

what the hell happened to hwang mira and savannah white's friendship?
