Kathrine Pierce is here, Stefan Salvatore is here, Jenna Sommers, Tyler Lockwood, Liz Forbes all of them were alive and here.
Hope was struggling to process this information, but as she picked up a news paper from the stand outside Mystic Grill she read the date, it was 2010. She read it multiple times, and it was still the same.
"This can't be happening, this really can't be happening." blues eyes widening, she whisper yelled to herself "but Hope, it is real, it really is. It's real and you're screwed, you've really messed up big time." She sank down onto the stairs that led to the back entrance of the Grill. How dumb do you have to be to get yourself in this kind of situation.
She ran her hands through her auburn curls, "Think Hope, what are we going to do." Tears were stinging in her eyes as she sniffled, she felt so lost. What was she going to do, unless this was some horrible dream or a trick of magic she was pretty sure she was stuck in a different year, way before she's even born, before her friends are even born, and no clue what she could do about it. Hope thought to the last moment she had in her own time before she was transported here and-
The door opens "whoa, god. I'm sorry you really surprised me!" came a voice "hey, sorry about that, I was just leaving." She sniffled "No it's fine, are you okay? You seem a little upset." " Yeah no I'm okay, just process some... things." She wiped her face "its been a hard day." She tried to chuckle, the boy half smiled "Nah it's alright, I come here to cry once a week at least. When you do next time just let me know you booked the spot." She laughed
"I'm Matt Donovan ." he gave her his hand "I'm Hope." She shook it, "Are you new here Hope? It's a small town, kinda hard to not notice." "Yeah, I'm pretty new to be honest. I'm from Louisiana." " Can I ask what's wrong?" Hope was very touched by his soft tone, she knew Sheriff Donovan but she had never been very close to him. He was just a passing acquaintance, someone who's face you'd recognise but couldn't recall a conversation with. Here he was looking like a kid, asking her if she's okay. She couldn't even begin to describe everything that was not okay.
Her mouth formed into a weak smile "Its not a big deal honestly, it was a big move coming here." She couldn't be honest with him, not when she didn't even know the consequences of it. "Ah, I get it. Not really I mean I've never been outside this town, I grew up here but I mean that I get how that's rough for you." He kind of rambled and she got the feeling he wasn't used to comforting people but wanted to try and help all the same. "Change isn't so bad though," he added "People say it's an opportunity, maybe you make something better out of this."
Hope smiled genuinely at him "Yeah, maybe."
Getting up "It was nice to meet you Matt, I hope I'll see you around." "Nice to meet you too Hope."
"Hey do you need a ride? I just clocked out of my shift I can drop you off if you need?" he offered " thanks, but I only need to go nearby." "Alright." He waved with his keys in hand and she waved back. Hope had no idea what she was about to do, but she was going to try to figure her shit out.
It didn't take long for dawn to start rising, as Hope sat on one of the benches of the local bus stand a crumpled paper in her hand. She'd been making notes for herself on a small piece of paper to figure out all she knew, or at least the key parts of it and it didn't look good.
She didn't have a home, she didn't have any money, no phone, Salvatore Boarding School didn't exists, her dad was alive, so was her uncle, and her mom. They we're alright for now, a strange feeling pricked at her chest when she thought of them. She wanted to see her parents, but if the time travel movies are anything to go by, that's a bad idea. Her best bet was to find her way back to her original time.
How was she going to do that?
Hope looked down at her list again, looking at the points she made for herself.
1. Create a new identity.
2. Register for school.
3. Blend in.
4. Figure out the spell to get back home.
5. Do not get close to anyone, keep your secrets.
There was only one way to go now, a bus pulled up in front of her. "Hey girl, you headed to Richmond?" "Yeah, just a sec." grabbing her backpack she got the bus.
