Y/n watched with a gentle smile as the kittens frolicked in the garden, their tiny bodies bounding about in playful abandon. The sight brought a warmth to her heart, a brief respite from the harsh realities of her daily life. These little creatures, innocent and carefree, provided a brief escape from the turmoil that surrounded her.

The garden belonged to her younger aunt, Soo-Min, who doted on her cat and its five adorable kittens. At just three weeks old, they were still discovering the world around them, their curious eyes wide with wonder. Y/n couldn't help but be drawn to their endearing antics, their playful meows tugging at her heartstrings.

Despite her fondness for the kittens, Y/n knew better than to interfere. Her aunt, Soo-Min, was protective of her furry brood, often shooing Y/n away whenever she ventured too close. And so, Y/n contented herself with watching from a distance, cherishing these fleeting moments of joy amidst the chaos of her existence.

As one of the kittens, a tiny ball of fur with wide, curious eyes, stumbled towards her, Y/n couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth in her chest. The kitten's tentative approach, coupled with its playful antics, melted away the layers of tension that often weighed heavily upon her shoulders.

With a soft smile, Y/n reached out a gentle hand, allowing the kitten to nuzzle against her palm. Its soft fur tickled her skin, eliciting a small giggle from Y/n as she began to playfully scratch the kitten's belly. The kitten responded with delighted purrs, its tail flicking back and forth in contentment.

For a brief moment, the worries and troubles of Y/n's world faded into the background, replaced by the simple joy of connecting with another living being. In the company of the playful kitten, she found solace and companionship, a welcome reprieve from the harshness of her reality.

In the quiet corner of the living room, Y/N's moment of solace was abruptly interrupted as her aunt, Soo Min, approached with a stern look. The kitten, which had been a gentle purr in Y/N's lap, was swiftly taken away, leaving a cold void. Y/N's heart seemed to skip a beat, and she stood up quickly, her body tensing under Soo Min's sharp gaze.
Soo Min with a scowl said "Are you done with your chores, or have you decided that sitting here idly is more important?"

Y/N, her voice barely above a whisper and hindered by a stutter, replied, trying to convey her diligence. " I-I'm d-done with p-preparing d-dinner".

The response, meant to be assertive, was met with a harsh slap from Soo Min, the sound echoing off the walls, a stark reminder of Y/N's fragile reality. Soo Min's voice was laced with disdain as she pushed Y/N towards the kitchen.

Soo min clenching her jaw yelled,  "Then get moving and make pudding for dessert. And don't you dare talk back to me again."

Y/N stumbled towards the kitchen, her eyes downcast, as she braced herself to follow her aunt's orders, the sting on her cheek a burning testament to her aunt's cruelty.

Y/n diligently prepared the pudding, although it was already dinner time. Hoping for a brief moment of rest before the next round of chores, she found herself pressed for time as her aunt assigned her the task. With no respite in sight, she began setting the table just as the family began to gather around it.

As the family gathered around the table, the tension in the air was palpable. Y/n felt the weight of their gazes bearing down on her, each glance laden with disdain and superiority.
