Mary's POV

Oh my God. He actually asked me out! I've been waiting for this moment forever! Even before Michael came here I've always had a crush on Gavin. Since 5th grade. Yeah... I've liked him for a good eight years. Should I say yes? I've wanted this to happen for ages... but I don't know what's holding me back... I think I should just give him an answer before I say something stupid...

"Yes, Gavin. I would love to go on a date with you." I smile.

He bites his bottom lip. "Great. What should we do for, and when should we have our first date?"

I frown. "Um.. I actually have no idea."

He thinks for a moment before answering. "Well the carnival is in town for a week. Hey! We could go tonight! It's your birthday!"

My eyes light up and a small smile creeps onto my face. "That's perfect. But can I bring one of my friends? She has a boyfriend and we could totally double date."

"That's an awesome idea! So when should I pick you up?" He asks.

"Six o'clock." I say.

He looks at my lips then at my eyes. "Great. I'll see you tonight. Have a good birthday, beautiful." He kisses my cheek and walks away.

He looks back at me and winks before continuing towards his class.

I actually really hope things work out between him and I.

...

I just got out of 7th period and THANK THE LAWD Luke wasn't here today. He's suspended for 2 weeks. And he is being moved out of all my classes.

But this whole day people have been so nice to me! I think it's because it is my eighteenth birthday and people want to be nice. I don't know... I'm just gonna leave before anyone ruins my day.

I haven't gone back to work for Mr. Jackson in a while... but I'm gonna have to starting tomorrow. He is gonna be at some childrens hospital so I have to watch his animals.

Today he is picking me up and giving me a ride home. My Mom usually picks me up because she is a stay at home Mom, but she got a job yesterday so now Mr. Jackson has to take me home and pick me up when Michelle can't give me a ride. Michelle always has swim or dance after school so she can never give me a ride at that time. Therefor, I have to ride with Mr. Jackson. I'd rather do that then ride the bus or walk home.

"Hey, Mary." He says putting on his sunglasses. "Are you ready to go?"

I nod. "Yep."

We walk down the hall in silence and suddenly he gasps.

"It's your eighteenth birthday today!"

My heart flutters at the thought of him remembering my birthday. "Yeah... it is." I blush.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARY!" He screams in excitement.

"Haha! Thank you, Mr. Jackson."

He frowns. "What happened to you calling me Michael?"

"Oh... well I just decided we would keep it to a teacher-student relationship. So I'm going to call you Mr. Jackson." I simply say.

"Oh, right. Well happy birthday anyways." He smiles.

"Thank you."

"I'm gonna take you somewhere for your birthday." He smirks.

"WHERE?!"

He lets out a small giggle. "I'm not telling you. That would ruin all of the fun." I frown and he ruffles my hair. "Come on!" He runs towards his car in a very childish way.

"I'm coming!" I reply, trying to catch up to him.

Of course he beats me... but it was a close call.

When I get in the car I'm completely out of breath which makes him laugh.

"Don't laugh." I pout.

Saying that makes him laugh even more.

"Oh just drive old man."

He looks at me and chuckles.

"Me? Old? No way! I'm Peterpan!"

"Peterpan?"

"Yes." He replies, backing out of the school parking lot.

"Explain." I say.

"Well you see, Peterpan is a lost boy. Not really understood. He is grown, but doesn't act his age. He stays forever young. He plays with little children because they are just like he is. Innocent."

Hearing him say this makes me think. Michael really is Peterpan.

"Wow... Michael... that's beautiful."

"Thank you."

The ride is silent until Michael hands me a CD.

"A SELENA GOMEZ CD?! YESSS! THANK YOU!"

"You're very welcome... go ahead and put it in the CD player. I love her music."

"Okay!" I squeal, putting in the CD.

It's been said and done

Every beautiful thought's been already sung

And I guess right now here's another one

So your melody will play on and on, with the best of 'em

You are beautiful, like a dream come alive, incredible

A centerfold, miracle, lyrical

You saved my life again

And I want you to know baby

"I, I love you like a love song baby!" I sing.

"I, I love you like a love song baby!" He joins in.

"I, I love you like a love song baby! And I keep hitting re-peat peat peat peat peat!" We both sing.

Mr. Jackson and I sing until we pull up into a parking lot.

I gasp.

"Oh. My. God."
