The Power

A New Beginning

Okay, the people in the movies make it look so easy. I'm right now trying to shift into animals, and it's been very unproductive.
Example A: Me trying to shift into a rabbit. What happened: Me shifting into a half frog-goose-duck thingy.
"Okay, for the last time, you picture the animal in your mind and then focus your energy on that animal. Simple", Dakota explained. Well, easy for YOU to say. I sighed, then closed my eyes picturing a dragon, I know I know I'm childish, but hey, who doesn't want to be a dragon? I imagined a purple metallic-scaled dragon with beautiful gold wings and a ruby tail. Slowly, I put all my energy into that picture and when I opened my eyes, I was towering above a squealing Lilac and a proud Dakota. "Awesome Amber!", Lilac screamed "Can you fly?". I tried to flap my wings, and after a few tries, I finally got it. And that was how I spent the next 30 minutes shifting into animals until I got the hang of it. Or until I collapsed from exhaustion.
"Okay Amber, next will be actual powers. Like fire, nature, air, water, and ice. "Like Elsa!!", Lilac screamed. Dakota looked at her weirdly," who's Elsa?". "Lil, please don't do this!". And then that is how Lil explained who Elsa was, and just for my pain and suffering, sang Let it Go, and well, what happens if an all powerful being liked that song? Well, more headaches for me! Yay.
"Okay, back to the topic, first of all, you focus your energy on the power, for example fire", Dakota said, and just like that she lit on fire. It sounded simple, but it was harder than Dakota said it was. I tried to do what she said, but with my headaches from Let it Go overload, it was kinda hard to concentrate, thus leading to a burning Amber. "For the last time, you focus your energy on your hands, not your head!", Dakota screamed.
Right now I wasn't feeling a thing, but my head was on fire. I was clever and thought of water, so that was how I ended up soaking wet. "Okay, not what I thought would've happened", Dakota said.
~A couple hours later~
"Finally, I'm home", I said while I turn on the lights and getting ready to face plant on my bed. After an exhausting day of setting my head on fire to shifting into animals, today was one hell of a roller coaster. "Not so fast", a voice spoke as soon as I face planted " I still have things to discuss with you". "Can it wait?", I asked, my voice slightly muffled.
"No, I'm planning to bring you to one of my villages!". "Villages", I said, lifting up my head. "Yes, villages, Lilac can come too. Shifter villages are like normal cities, except, we don't do anything that hurts the environment". "Cool, when are we leaving?". "Tomorrow", Dakota answered "so pack up".
"Okay", I said, walking over and packing the few things that I had, including that small, teared up bear that I had during the car crash. I let a tear slip down thinking of that night a drunk person rammed into the car. He was arrested, but he should've died, not my parents.
~Morning~

I woke up to...ribbiting? Oh no. Quickly getting up, I came face-to-face with a giant frog. I was about to scream until I remembered that it was Dakota.

"Get up, get ready, we're leaving soon", she said before going to Lilac. I groggily got up and put on some jeans, a sweater, a scarf, my bracelet, and some uggs. I looked at my mirror, combing my hand through my thick, curly light brown hair. My dad said I have always looked at my mom. Taking one last look at my apartment, before leaving.

Outside, Dakota turned into her Pegasus form, before telling us to get on. I first helped Lilac get on, then going on myself on to her back. I imagined a saddle and bridle on Dakota, and poof it was there. When I was training, Dakota taught me how to imagine objects and make them appear. Veerrry handy, I say.

"Hold on", Dakota said before he took off. We hung on as Dakota's massive wings propelled us into the sky, into the clouds. As her wings leveled out, what we saw was unforgettable. Since it was early in the morning, we saw the sun slowly rise above the horizon, and it was an amazing sight to see. "Hello, I am Dakota and welcome to the Pegasus Flights aircraft. Would you like any peanuts?", Dakota said. "Oh hardy har har", I said, rolling my eyes.
~2 hours later~

After an exhausting 2 hours, we arrived. At first I didn't see it, but when we passed through the energy field, I saw it. The whole town seemed to be priceless. The houses seemed to be made out of trees that have grown around spaces, forming a circular-type house. Gold ran through the trees, houses, and buildings, creating beautiful patterns on it. The buildings were massive, and made out of crystals. There were no glass in the windows, instead an empty hole.

The whole the village seemed to be natural all in all. "Let's check in first", Dakota said, trotting towards a huge crystal building with a few gems poking through the dirt.

I stopped to see a beautiful multicolored bird go in a girl with light blonde hair with blue streaks, before flying off.

That left me gaping at the flying figure. "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. The animal you're with, gives you the powers that you can use in human form without changing. For example, if your animal is a bird, you are given the power of flight, but since I am a Pegasus, you get the power to run fast and fly", Dakota said as we entered the building.

Inside it seemed to be a forest, trees lining the clear crystal path, and even a little stream running across the sides. Birds flew in and out through the glassless windows. It was peaceful, until I ran into a desk. Hard. I painfully rubbed my side before looking up at a lady with brown hair, pulled up into a tight bun. She looked at me for a second, before saying,"Okay, so Dakota yes?", "N-n-no I'm Amber, Dakota is the Pegasus", I said, nervously. She raised her brows before saying," Your room is room 463 on the fifth floor, have a good day", before going back to touching some weird, glowing piece of gold.

When I reached the room, panting, because it was the on the fifth floor and all they had was stairs, well I just hate stairs I opened the room and saw...
