Those oceanic eyes touched base on that silky pale skin walking beside him, he hadn't expected the raven to look back at him but he was soon met with obsidian eyes meeting his own. "Normal...it's not something given to everyone. So those who lack it have every right to crave it." Soft and gentle toned, just like his skin. Naruto was stargazing into his eyes, both now not paying attention to where they're walking. Obviously this could be dangerous so one of them had to break the gaze. The Uzumaki surely wasn't going to be the one to do so, leaving the Uchiha to redirect them towards Ichiraku.
The rest of the way there was silent, it wasn't like Naruto could just come up with something to respond with, how was he to respond? He was so infatuated with his rival that his words may have been lost. Nonetheless he continued with him until they did make arrival.
Naruto and now Sasuke's meal were the same as always, the shop owner had recently started remembering what the Uchiha orders so the only exchange they shared was a common greeting.
"How's training Boruto going?" By now their food had arrived and they already started eating, which was good time to spark up some conversation. It wasn't out of line asking, it was rather a fair question, simple questions leads to a simple answer. "Good." Even though it was expected to be a vague answer, Naruto was hoping for a bit more. Instead he sighed and took another bite.
It seemed Sasuke caught onto this not so very 'mild' sigh. Quickly he cleared his throat and began trying to come up with something to keep the conversation going. All of a sudden it started to feel like a date to him, where the conversation wasn't allowed to come to an end, with that he let out a soft genuine sigh and moved forward vocally. It seemed Naruto was thinking the same thing.
"Do you—"
"Why did—"
Both men had a train of thought but both questions remained unheard as they both cut each other off on accident and instead of bickering to figure out who goes first they laughed. Both of them laughed. It was a sound of bliss that Naruto was not expecting, and they certainly wouldn't have been laughing if he was able to actually ask that question. But the laughter was short lived, drifting off faster when they both came back to reality. Where the realization of those questions were unanswered.
Naruto knew maybe now wasn't the time to be asking him about that night, maybe it was best to keep quiet and shelter that conversation for another time. On the other hand it'll continue to eat him alive until he knows the reasoning as to why Sasuke went ghost on him. Maybe the explanation is worth asking him the question.
Their eyes met and locked harder than ever before, there was hesitation from both sides and Sasuke knew already what was going on in the Hokage's mind. But he couldn't give in, it wasn't fair to their families, or even Naruto himself. It would only cause more confusion and questions. Which he doesn't have all the answers too. So before allowing this discussion to be taken into consideration, he released a soft sigh and parted his gaze from the attractive man beside him, down to his food where he continued to eat. In between a bite he managed to make something of his voice he nearly lost. "How often does Kuruma talk to you?"
Stunned and nearly embarrassed, Naruto chocked up on his food that he also continued to eat before glancing over at the raven. Why would he be asking that? Is he thinking about that night? Does he know Kuruma spoke to him? Oh this could go side ways quick!
"U-Uh...frequently I guess...w-why do you ask?" he tried to act casual as he wiped his mouth from the leftover broth that slipped down the side of his face. But that didn't mean he was hiding his nervousness very well at all. In fact, Sasuke found it quite amusing to see him flustered over such a simple question but again he couldn't show his amusement. "Hn...Boruto said sometimes he can talk to Momoshiki privately, via thoughts." He set his chopsticks down and pushed his bowl away as he had just finished.
"I can only wonder that if you speak as you say so frequently with Kuruma, how often is Boruto speaking with Momoshiki." There was a bit of a gasp that escaped the Hokage's mouth, he knew of this situation with his son and this alien-like man, but that thought never crossed his mind. 'Ohhh...he's gooood.' Kurama seemed quite perplexed by this assumption and started to believe that the Uchiha was on to something.
The Hokage's face started falling, he couldn't find it in him to be socially acceptable to this. His lips curved down and he began to frown. "You really think so?" His eyes costed the empty bowl in front of him, moving his chopsticks around circling the bottom of it. "Hn." Sasuke's simple hum was enough confirmation that maybe this was a more serious discussion to be having amongst a majority of the council, or maybe it should be more kept quiet. How contradicting this is.
After dinner Sasuke did as he usually does every night and walks the Hokage home, this has become a very usual occurrence and even more so being greeted in the morning as well. Naruto has made the extra effort to wake up on time in the morning therefore Sasuke didn't have to come inside. He'd be waiting just at the end of the walk way instead making it less awkward for the blonde.
Once they made it to the Uzumaki home and the whiskered one was inside safe and sound, Sasuke parted off and went home to a rather quiet household. All we he's been sleeping on the couch, which wasn't exactly out of the norm, but more frequent than not since this whole reorder thing has been going on. Back at the Hokage's, Naruto knocked on his beloved son's door, which he was quickly met with it opening and a younger version on himself was standing there in his PJ's hardly awake. "Tou-Cha?" Naruto greeted him with a gentle smile and put his index finger up to his lip giving a whisper like shush. "Can we talk?" He whispered cautiously before entering the boys room and sitting on the wheeled chair. Boruto closed the door as he assumed this conversation would need to be quiet since the rest of the house was already sleeping.
"I'm sorry to wake you, I just..." Naruto hesitated as their eyes met, he felt a pit in his stomach that almost felt like pain but maybe even a touch of guilt. He was unsure but regardless he didn't like it. "As you know, I have the nine-tails beast within me, which means we can communicate to each other very well and even on a regular basis..." His voice started to trail but was still alive with concern. It was clear Boruto was catching onto his father's speech and what he was trying to get at. Even still he remained quiet and let his dad ask the inevitable. "Is it possible you and Momoshiki are on the same level of communication?"
The younger blonde shook his head in disagreement. "No, not like that. I mean, we can talk to each other and we have before but... I think it's different." He sighed softly before laying down on his back and covering himself with his blanket, noting this conversation is getting close to an end. "What do you mean different? Can't you just speak to him on your own terms? Like right now?" Boruto shook his head again before yawning. "No, it's like it's on his own time. I guess he can see and hear all but he has to be the one to initiate a conversation..." Boruto's eyes looked tired, he rolled to his side and caught gaze with his dad.
"When he does start to talk to me everything around me stops moving. Almost like he freezes time..." Naruto winced a little at this, it was definitely shocking but not to be unexpected. "Does it happen often?" He couldn't help but ask, this guy has got to be trying to pierce himself into his son's head some how. "More often than not." Which this answer was the one he was hoping not to hear. "Okay... I understand." It was now that Naruto realized any discussions about what to do next from here on would be away from Boruto, it would lower the chances of Momoshiki finding out.
With that Boruto closed his eyes and was ready for bed, as was Naruto. "Goodnight...Boruto." His dad flicked the light off and closed the door behind him, making his way to his own bedroom where Hinata was peacefully sleeping.
Over the last seven days sleeping has been rather hard for the blonde, all night he was tossing and turning before he finally had enough and went downstairs to lay on the couch. Which surprisingly was enough comfort for him to finally sleep. He hadn't quite pinpointed the reason behind this sleep disorder, but he knew the comforting sound of Hinata's breathing was no longer comforting to him. He found it way easier away from her, or if he fell asleep before her. Sleep was what he needed and now sleep was what he was getting.
