Bella sat with Angela on a stray driftwood log at La Push First Beach, her friends were around her either sitting on the cold, damp sand that was all around her or on stray logs. She was trying to figure out why she recognize the boy from La Push. He had said his name was Jacob, but still she could not work it out. After a couple of minutes she gave up and started to look around at the other people who had joined their circle. It was made up of her friends and some native boys from La Push.

As she looked  around at everyone around her she stopped on person in particular. She didn't know what made her stop on him but as she did she got this intense feeling being protected and loved. After a few minutes she assumed he felt her staring because abruptly he looked at her. When he did the world around her seemed to slow to a blur and everything was fuzzy except the boy in front of her. All her questions about who Edward and Jacob were no longer mattered. All that mattered was the boy in front of her, his deep brown eyes that could look right into her soul.

They stared into each other's eyes for who knows how long until he smiled at her, his teeth pearly white against his russet skin. As he did she couldn't help but smile back. His smile seemed to widen at that as he pushed himself off the ground and made his way over to her.

" Want to go for a walk?" He asked, hope shining in his eyes.

"Sure." Bella said as she got off the driftwood and grinned at Angela. As she looked down at Angela she could see the boy named Jacob frowning at her out of the corner of her eye. She didn't understand why he was frowning but shrugged it off and carried on walking down with Beach.

" So, Um... I'm Paul." He said, rubbing the back of his neck, clearly nervous.

     " I'm Bella Swan."

" You're Chief Swan's daughter, right?" Paul asked. Realization dawning on his face. Bella shook her head yes.

By the time they stopped they were quite a ways away from the group so they sat down on the sand and continued talking. Bella learned that Paul lived and went to school on the reservation. As she listened she couldn't help but feel as though she had known him so much longer than she already did.

They had been talking for about a half an hour before Angela came looking for them, telling Bella that they were getting ready to go. Bella and Paul reluctantly got up and started to make their way up the beach back to the group. Before they got there Paul stopped Bella and turned her towards him. He had a look of determination and nervousness on his face.

" Bella, I was wondering.... I-If you would like to go on a D-date with me?" He stammered out his voice going high pitched at the end while looking down at the sand. She found awkwardness cute and couldn't help but smile.

He quickly peeked a look at her to see a dazzling smile on her face.

" Sure! I'd love too!"  Paul looked relieved and returned her smile as they exchanged numbers. At this point the rest of the group were heading up the beach back to the vans and Bella looked up to see Angela waiting for her.

Bella looked back up at Paul and smiled sadly.

" I better get going." Paul nodded and quickly leaned down and pressed his lips to hers.

" I'll see you next week." He said quietly after they had pulled away. Bella blushed and nodded before turning around and walked to Angela's side. She turned back and waved one last time to Paul before they disappeared into the van.

Paul walked over to Sam who smirked and raised his eyebrows.

Paul looked at him and playfully pushed his shoulder  "Yeah, I imprinted."
