[The day when Brinda was trying to tell her mother about her and Adhvik, i.e., the day before they broke up]"Why do you people hate them so much? I mean, it's just business!!" Brinda said frustratingly.
"I..it's not." Shreya replied, looking at her daughter.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Brinda and Sambhav asked at the same time. Sambhav was going in his room when he unintentionally heard his mother and sister talking.
Shreya looked at her children and took a deep breath and said, "I never wanted to tell this to both of you, but i think you both deserve to know it."
"Your father and Abhimanyu Rathore were batch mates and were really good friends. They passed out from college, and Abhimanyu Rathore started working in his father's company, and your father started with the construction business." Shreya added sighing.
"Dad and Mr. Rathore were friends!" Sambhav exclaimed, amazed at the new set of information and Shreya nodded in affirmation.
"Your dad started this company 35 years ago. I joined the company a few months later. Abhimanyu Rathore was still in touch with Anmol, and he used to visit the office often. At that time, the company wasn't diversified, and it was just construction business. Your father was the CEO, and soon after, i became the MD of the company. Everything was going great, but i started realizing that Abhimanyu Rathore wasn't a genuine person. He wasn't as good as he pretended to be." Shreya said, looking at Sambhav and Brinda as she proceeded.
"Abhimanyu was jealous of your father's success. I tried to tell your dad, but he shrugged it off, and i too decided to ignore it. Me and Anmol gradually fell in love, and on my birthday, Anmol decided to propose me for marriage. He took Abhimanyu's help in planning everything, but..." Shreya paused and gulped the lump formed in her throat.
"What happened, Maa?" Brinda asked worriedly.
"Abhimanyu was supposed to escort me there but instead..... instead he.. he took me somewhere else." As these words escaped her mouth, both Brinda and Sambhav gasped with their jaws clenching in anger.
"He said that Anmol gets everything he ever wanted but not this time. I realized the intention behind those words and immediately called Anmol, but that monster noticed and snatched my phone, throwing it somewhere. He... he then tried to.. to force himself on me, but luckily, your father arrived on time." Shreya's voice trembled, recalling the horrible incident, and few tears escaped her eyes as Brinda and Sambhav engulfed her into a comforting hug.
"I always thought dad is a superhero, but it's you. You are the real hero." Sambhav said softly as Shreya smiled a little before continuing.
"Your father almost killed him that day. He broke all ties with him, but Abhimanyu Rathore still didn't learn his lesson. I don't know what he was trying to prove. I don't even know why god blessed that monster with a daughter!" Shreya said, her voice hoarse due to all the sobbing.
"If i knew about this earlier, forget about the collaboration, I'd have killed that bastard then and there!" Sambhav said in anger.
"You two don't have to worry now, okay? It's all in the past." Shreya said, patting their heads while brinda was sitting there in shock.
