6: Keys and honesty

***Y/N POV***

I paged my interns for today: Meredith and Yang. I still needed to get my house keys back from Meredith so it's quite useful.

After a few minutes, they appeared at the end of the hallway, nattering away at each other.

"Hurry up, I haven't got all day. Lives to save and stuff like that"

When they didn't speed up, I just started walking towards our patients' room.

I presented the case, a 56 year old woman with cardiomyopathy. I explained the surgery that we would be doing and the risks that fame with it. Whilst I was doing this though, all i could hear was my interns gossiping and giggling with each other. I must admit, I expected better from Meredith. Especially since how nice I was with her.

Once we were done talking to the patient i pulled them outside to give them a talking to.

"If you're gonna gossip, just don't do it when I am trying to speak to a patient. It's disrespectful and rude and I expect better from two grown women. And Grey, I need to talk to you separately." I said and then walked into a storage closet with her following me.

The door slammed shut behind her and she looked at me with slightly scared eyes.

"Do you have my house keys?" I spoke in a softer, more gentle tone than when I was speaking earlier.

"I do yeah" she said, pulling them out of my pocket.
She gently placed them in my hand. I put them in my pocket and thanked her with a pat on the shoulder.

"Did you like the breakfast?"

"Yeah the bacon was really good. So were the eggs. How did you make them so good?"

"My father taught me how to make everything you make taste good" i said, beaming with pride

"Was the gown the right colour and style? I had to guess"

"It's amazing. It's perfect. Just like you are. But i can't do that again with you. Im sorry. Im meant to be waiting for someone else. I hope you understand. If you want you can take back that gown. It feels very expensive" Meredith said shyly, not meeting my gaze

"Hey, it's okay. I get it. Don't let me get in your way. If it's cool with you then can we be friends? Also you can keep the gown"

"Yeah, I'd like that. Thank you" she said, pulling me into a hug. I must admit I'm a little sad. But I really don't want to cause problems.

***Time skip 3 months later***

Intern exam results have just been revealed and only one didn't quite pass. One of Meredith's friends, O'Malley. He's very sweet but shy kinda like Bambi.

The new interns will be joining in just a few days and Meredith's group will be residents soon enough, looking after said new interns.

I have a good feeling about these interns.
