Blake, Yang, and I chose to sit close to each other in the second and third rows. Yang was adamant about not being in the front, but I'd rather be closer to the board than far away from it. I want to become a successful huntress after all. Accordingly, Yang is sitting in the third row farthest from the teacher's desk, Blake is beside her and behind me, and I'm directly in front of the board.
Surprisingly, Lira soon came in! Well, I should've known since I asked her and the rest of the group about it earlier, but she's going to be in our class too! In that case, I'm guessing all juniors in the huntsman program have the same classes, which excludes Ruby for the time being.
"Hey, Lira!" I say.
"Hey Lira! Sit by us!" Yang invites and points to the desk in front of her.
"Hell-o," she said. It's kind of funny knowing that Lira still says hello the same way she did back then.
After the bell rang, Dr. Oobleck walked in. It sounded like he took 100 steps at once to rush to the front of the board.
"Hello dear ladies and gents. As you may have figured, I am Dr. Oobleck. I will be your teacher for world history. Specifically, since you children were chosen to participate in the Huntsmen and Huntress program, the lessons will be oriented around wars, battles, Grimm, folklore, and much, much more."
Well, he clearly has a story to tell or two. And almost no breaks in speaking so that we can't respond either.
"We have a long curriculum to cover, and the only way to reach the end goal is to start now. We will begin with two assignments: one individual and one group project. The individual assignment is to read over the syllabus, alongside your parents of course, and sign that you understand what exactly you are getting yourself into." Dr. Oobleck took a swig of his coffee.
And now he's moving so quick it looks like he's bouncing off the walls, yet all he's doing is going back and forth between the sides of the classroom.
"The group project will be to introduce yourselves to each other. You will be working with one another for two years and likely during Beacon Academy, assuming you choose to go there as well. Of course, as this is a history class, you will have to report on each other's history. This may range from personal to cultural. Please find groups of at most four people to work with. You will work together to create a research paper per person on one another due by next Monday morning as you walk into class. We will also share some of our findings in a small morning discussion. And please do remember children, keep the project school-appropriate." He took another gulp of coffee as he eyed Cardin and then Yang. I wonder what she did.
Well, I don't think he ever gets tired, and with how quick he talks, I don't think anyone can fall asleep either.
"You may begin."
Dr. Oobleck managed to hastily pass out papers of the instructions and rubric to everyone before leaving. As Dr. Oobleck ran out, and assumedly back to the University, another teacher came in. She would be the teacher to stand in for Mr. Oobleck most of the time in class to basically act as a substitute who could also help us somewhat with our work.
"So Blake, Jeane, why don't we all work together?" Yang suggested. "You two are new here, and it's been a while since you've talked to Lira! It'll be a perfect opportunity to catch up!"
"Sure, sounds pretty cool to me!" I say, looking back at Blake to make sure she agrees too.
She nodded in response. Fortunately, it seems like she'll come out of her shell just a tad bit for them! This is interesting!
"How are we going to start?" Blake asked. Straight to business, as expected though.
"We could meet up after school today and during the weekend! Lira, Ruby, and I were already planning on going to this local diner we know to kick off the start of the school year!" Yang invited. "It'll be fun and we can hang out more!"
