Chapter Three: Dead In The Water

Start from the beginning

"Will Carlton?" Dean said Becca smiles at Will "Yeah, that's right." Will said. "I'm Agent Ford. This is Agent Hamill and Agent Wilton. We're with the US Wildlife Service." Becca Dean and Sam grab out their badges

Bill Carlton is sitting on a bench on the dock. Will brings Sam, Becca, and Dean around to see him. "She was about a hundred yards out." Will explains "That's where she got dragged down." He points Becca turns towards Will "And you're sure she didn't just drown?" Becca asked

"Yeah. She was a varsity swimmer." Becca shakes her head looking at Sam and Dean "She practically grew up in that lake. She was as safe out there as in her own bathtub." Sam turns towards Will standing right behind Becca "So no splashing? No signs of distress?" Sam asked

Becca looked up at Sam who was standing behind her "No, that's what I'm telling you." Becca shakes her head "Did you see any shadows in the water? Maybe some dark shape breach the surface?" Becca asked

"No. Again, she was really far out there." Dean looks away from Bill "You ever see any strange tracks by the shoreline?" Dean asked "No, never. Why? Why, what do you think's out there?" Becca looks at Dean wondering the same thing

"We'll let you know as soon as we do." Dean gestures towards the car and they start walking "What about your father?" Sam asked Becca stops and looks back at Bill "Can we talk to him?" Sam asked

Will turns to look at Bill, then turns back. "Look, if you don't mind, I mean...he didn't see anything and he's kind of been through a lot." Becca shakes her head "We understand." Sam, Dean and Becca head back towards the car.

Sheriff Jake Devins talks to Sam Becca and Dean. "Now, I'm sorry, but why does the Wildlife Service care about an accidental drowning?" Jake asked "You sure it's accidental? Will Carlton saw something grab his sister." Becca tells him crossing his arms "Like what?" Jake asked

They walk into Jake's office. Jake motions to chairs in front of his desk. Dean and Sam sits Becca sits on the arm rest of Sam's chair "There's nothing even big enough to pull down a person, unless it was the Loch Ness Monster." Becca shakes her head "Yeah." Dean said laughing a little.

"Right." He said Becca glances at Dean who was sitting with his hands together "Will Carlton was traumatized, and sometimes the mind plays tricks. Still—" Jake sits down "We dragged that entire lake. We even ran a sonar sweep, just to be sure, and there was nothing down there."

"That's weird, though, I mean, that's, that's the third missing body this year." Dean said "I know. These are people from my town. These are people I care about." Becca shakes her head "We know." Becca tells him "Anyways." Jake sighs "All this...it won't be a problem much longer."

"What do you mean?" Dean asked "Well, the dam, of course." Dean shakes his head "Of course, the dam. It's, uh, it sprung a leak." Dean said guessing a little bit

"It's falling apart, and the feds won't give us the grant to repair it, so they've opened the spillway. In another six months, there won't be much of a lake. There won't be much of a town, either. But as Federal Wildlife, you already knew that." Becca smiles sarcastically

"Exactly." She said raising her eyes brows A young woman, Andrea Barr, taps on the door. "Sorry, am I interrupting?" Andrea asked Becca, Sam and Dean stand up quickly smiling "I can come back later." Andrea says "Gentlemen and Ms. Wilton, this is my daughter." Jake tells the three of them

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Dean." Dean said walking towards Andrea shaking her hand "Andrea Barr. Hi" Dean raises his eye brows "Hi." Becca tucks a hair behind her head looking at Sam and rolling her eyes.

"They're from the Wildlife Service. About the lake." Jake says "Oh." Andrea says. A Boy, Lucas Barr, walks in around Andrea. Becca smile looking at him "Oh, hey there. What's your name?" Dean asked Lucas walks away without speaking. Andrea follows.
