__________________________________“Are you sure this is a good idea?”
Cameron sighed as Micah leaned against his kitchen counter. He glanced to his side, seeing Liz playing with Theodora by the couch. His heart clenched a bit at the genuine smile on Theodora’s face. One he hadn’t really witnessed in a long time.
“Of course it’s a good idea.” Micah shrugged, “Why wouldn’t it be?”
“Because.” Cameron shrugged back, “It’s weird. I didn’t think I’d ever go on a fucking blind date.”
“Well, it’s about time you got out of the house.”
“I do get out of the house.” Cameron bit and Micah rolled his eyes, “Cameron, having a drunken one night stand every once in a while isn’t getting out of the house. It’s about time you get back out there, just… meet someone, let them in.”
Let them in. Cameron swallowed at the words, “I don’t know.” He hesitated.
“Dude, I promise, we have the perfect girl for you.”
Cameron shot his friend a deadpanned look, “Which is why you won’t let me see a picture of her.”
“That makes it more exciting.” Micah shrugged and Cameron huffed, “No, that makes me think she’s ugly.”
“She’s definitely not ugly.”
“Who’s not ugly?” Liz breathed as she joined the men in the kitchen again, moving through Cameron’s house like it was her own. She opened up a cupboard to grab a glass and filled it up with tap water as Micah cleared his throat, “Madeleine.”
“Madeleine? Ugly?!” Liz almost screeched and Cameron raised his brows at her sudden defense. Liz gulped down the water, “Of course not! Madeleine is gorgeous. I swear, Cameron, in college, all the boys were pining for her.”
He chuckled and slowly shook his head, “I don’t really believe you. Feels like you’re just trying to sell her to me. If she’s that gorgeous, how come she’s single?”
“How come you are?” Liz fired back and Cameron bit his tongue, “Because Beth left me.”
“And because you’re emotionally unavailable.” Micah added quietly. Cameron glared at him and Micah shrugged, “Just the truth.”
“Well, Beth leaving you had nothing to do with your looks. And maybe the same thing happened with Madeleine, hm? Don’t be so quick to judge.” Liz spoke.
Cameron nibbled his lip and then glanced at Micah, “A-And what have you told her about me?”
“Just your name.” He spoke, “Same as we told you about her.”
Cameron frowned, “So she doesn’t know what I do for a living? Or that I have a daughter?”
“No.”
He felt himself getting a little flustered, “Micah, it’s a pretty important piece of information that Theodora’s in my life. I’d really prefer for her to know upfront.”
“Cam, the point of a blind date is that you get to know each other and you get to tell her yourself.” Liz rolled her eyes, “Don’t be so dramatic. You two will hit it off immediately, I promise. She’s so nice and open-minded. And she loves kids.”
“Does she have any?”
“You can ask her.” Liz stared at him, “On the date.”
Cam rolled his eyes, “Are you seriously not going to tell me? Can I at least know how old she is?”
