Chapter 11

THE NEXT MORNING ATHENA TRIED NOT TO FEEL too hurt when she woke up and Edward was gone. He had left a note in his place that told Athena he would be back at around 1pm to pick her up and that he was sorry he couldn't stay until the morning so Athena made her way downstairs for some breakfast

Charlie was sitting at the table, a newspaper in his hand as he got ready for work even on a Saturday and when he saw her his eyes widened slightly

He hadn't seen her for the past 3 days since she had gone to Italy with Bella, she had called Charlie on her way there and explained as much as she could and even though Charlie was blind sided he was just happy Athena had left the house

"You look.. like you have a lot more blood in you" Charlie said when he realised she didn't look as pale as she did in the past few months and she softly smiled as she made herself some cereal and sat in front of it
"Word has it that the Cullens are back" her dad continued as he watched Athena not touch the cereal she made

He hadn't even realised she had stopped eating until the day he saw her thin arms. She had always made it seem like she had eaten but he never actually saw her eat

"I know" she whispered
"They called me"

Charlie couldn't really be mad at the boy who broke his daughters heart. He knew Edward was a good man and as far as Charlie knew all Edward did was move away with his family. He didn't know what it was for. It was Max that hurt her

"Are you going to see them? Are you going to reconnect with him?"

"I-yes" she looked up waiting to see a judgemental look on her fathers face but didn't see it
"Is that bad?"

"No. I always thought he was good for you. He made you happier and that's all I want to see for you. I just hated to see how much you was effected when he left"

"Me too" she took a few small bites of her cereal before her father got up and kissed the top of her head

"Thea, honey..." she could hear the concern in her fathers voice and it made her confused

"What is it dad?"

"You know how i've been looking for Max for a while now? He isn't anywhere and we still can't find him" she had a feeling they wouldn't find him. She knew that Max must've known that someone would have realised what he did the day she left his life and ran for it

"I know dad. He probably won't be around for a while"

"He will come back. And I swear to you we will get him"
