"HOW COULD IT BE YOUR FAULT? YOU'RE THE ONE hurt" Embry asked confused

"He was making me better"

"No, Athena he wasn't. He was-" She cut Jared off. She had enough of everyone telling her what had happened. None of them were there. None of them knew Max like she did. He only wanted what was best for her and they would never understand that

"No! He was doing it so I could be good!" She said standing up and moving away from Emily so she could face all of them ignoring the searing pain that was spreading throughout her body
"So no one will leave me. That's why me and Edward didn't work. He- he left because of me. Because I wasn't enough but Max is helping me. H-he punishes me when I do something wrong. He's making me better so no one will leave me again. It's my fault this happened. I shouldn't have met anyone without his permission. I Should've let him do what he wanted to me..." she sat back in her seat, her eyes casting to the floor
"I shouldn't have said no"

"Edward didn't leave because of you" Emily said softly as she looked down at Athena. She was always like a mother figure to the young girl. Ever since they met if Athena ever needed motherly advice it wasn't her own mother she would call. It would be Emily or Esme. But the latter was gone
"He left to protect you"

"I'm a witch Em, you don't think I could've defended myself? He wasn't leaving to protect me. He was leaving to protect himself from me"

"So what?" Jacob finally spoke. He pushed himself off the counter and moved closer
"So what Thea? He left. Good for him he can fuck off! That has nothing to do with how you are as a person"

"You don't get it. I haven't spoke my mum since the day I moved to forks but I hear her on the phone to Bella almost everyday. Edward would rather deal with the breaking of our mate bond than deal with me. Don't you get it guys? No one will stay. No one loves me enough to stay and every day, every single day I wake up to the same stabbing feeling in my chest, and you know when I didn't feel it?" I let out a small laugh that sent rackets of pain throughout my body
"When I was so beaten and bloody and- and bruised that the pain in my chest didn't even register in my mind. A constant reminder that he didn't love me enough. That I wasn't good enough"

"Don't you see us?" Emily whispered
"Don't you see all of us here for you? Me, Sam, Paul, Embry, Jacob, Charlie and even Bella. We all love you, and we're not going anywhere. ever"

"Literally, cause we're like tied down to the reservation forever" Jared's words made Athena let off the smallest of chuckles but anything was better than her crying
