Rouge approached Shadow In the break room of the GUN building.
"When did you get in?" She asked while stretching out her wings. He turned to her with his foam cup of coffee in hand answering, "I've been here. Stayed overnight."
"Overnight?!" She gasped, "Shadow isn't that what Omega is for? He's the robot, not you. I think you should get some downtown. Commander Towers needs to give you a break."
Just as he was about to protest against such an idea the commander walked in. They both stood at attention, Rouge a little more relaxed in her salute however. As someone who wasn't owned by the company she could afford the loose behavior. Unlike Shadow whose entire life had been dedicated to GUN and his main purpose of life.
"Ah Shadow, just the hedgehog I've been looking for." He nodded at them, "At ease." He added so that they could talk. "I have a mission for the both of you."
Rouge frowned, "I knew I shouldn't have come in. Ready to rope me into all your meaningless missions." She scoffed and crossed her arms, "There better be a nice shiny emerald as payment."
Commander Towers ignored her demands and went on to explain, "A cruise line, crew and its passengers have vanished." He brought out a file he had held behind his back and placed it in Shadow's ready hand. Watching the hedgehog flip through the one page of the file.
"Is this all we have?" Shadow asked, looking up from his reading.
"If there were more you'd be reading it." Commander Towers stated, noticing Rouge's expression fall to one of disappointment and then irritation. "Agent, have any information about the mission you'd like to share?"
Rouge sighed, "I recognize the company because the travel agency was giving out free tickets at the new mall that had just opened up."
"Free tickets?" Shadow cocked a brow, "That's a scam if I ever heard one."
Rouge pouted, "It's a usual thing travel agencies do for cruise lines wanting to promote their business."
"Yeah, but nothing is actually free. There's always a catch. Like disappearing for example." He held up the one page file.
"Well yes you have to pay for other things but the ticket is free. You already have a spot on the boat." Rouge tried to explain.
"Scam." Both Commander Towers and Shadow said in unison.
"Ugh you two need to stop working and get out more." Rouge rolled her eyes, unable to convince them.
"And let me guess, you have 'free tickets' to this very cruise don't you?" Shadow crossed his arms remembering how Rouge came in to bother him about needing a break.
"Well," She smiled, "I was going to ask if you wanted to join me. Looks like you don't have a choice now."
Shadow grumbled, reopening the file in his hands to skim through the page again, "This might be the one mission I won't be interrupted by Sonic on."
"That's true!" Rouge placed a hand on her hip, "We can treat this as a paid vacation."
"People are missing Rouge, they could be dead." Shadow growled at her uninterest of the mission.
She shrugged, "We don't know that for sure. Missing is just missing. Where's your optimistic sweetheart?"
"Tch, dead in space." He rolled his eyes before finally giving Commander Towers a nod. "We'll work on it. I'll keep you updated on what we find."
