This is the story--
--Of how we died...
...
Wow! That was a bit of a depressing introduction.
You said it, blondie, but don't worry. This story has a lot more fun.
And a LOT more adventure! Because it's our story.
The story about a dashing rogue,
and a big-hearted princess.
The story that came before we tied the knot,
and escaped death more than once.
The story about becoming more than what we seemed,
and taking the reins of our own destiny.
About the hardships and battles we faced,
and about the friends we made along the way.
There were many mistakes we made,
and words we wished we could take back.
But this is our story.
Our journey to find ourselves,
And it all started the night I decided to leave Corona...
...For Good.
~Before Ever After~
The loud gallop of horses rumbled across the dirt. Laughter escaped Rapunzel as she rode her new horse, Fidella, through fields.
"Come on, girl, we can beat them," Rapunzel said, eyeing the rider a few yards ahead of her.
Maximus took the lead with Eugene on his back. The former thief hollered excitedly when he could see the outer walls of Corona in the distance.
"Oh, we've got this in the bag, buddy," he muttered to the white steed.
Rapunzel scanned the terrain around her before a smirk grew over her cheeks. She pointed to her left and Fidella followed along. The hazel-coated horse charged right for a large hill. The princess leaned forward, signaling Fidella to go faster. The stead kicked up dirt behind her as a steep ledge came into view. Once there was no longer anywhere else to go, Rapunzel exclaimed.
"NOW!"
Fidella leaped into the air. Down below, Eugene and Maximus were both left flabbergasted by the flying horse soaring directly over their heads. Right before the man and his steed could reach the outer wall, Fidella made a clear landing a mere 3 feet in front of them, allowing the hazel stead to make the last few yards to victory. Rapunzel placed a hand on the brick wall and smiled towards her still stunned boyfriend. Eugene dismounted and ran a hand through his hair.
"How did-- When did you learn-- That was awesome, sunshine!" he exclaimed once Rapunzel let her bare feet touch the ground. She giggled at his excitement before giving a shrug.
"Thanks, it was just something I picked up from Cass."
"Ah, well, just don't learn too much from your lady-in-waiting, or else you might catch her cold scowl too," Eugene said casually before wrapping his arms around Rapunzel's waist. The princess gave him a stern look as she placed her hands on his shoulders.
"Eugene..."
The former thief chuckled.
"Kidding, kidding... mostly..." Eugene mumbled while the two stared silently at each other for a good minute. Warm smiles filled their faces, enjoying their closeness. Before they could inch any closer, though, the mood was interrupted by more galloping horses.
