Nami leaned against the doorframe of the room Angel had been given, her arms crossed with a soft smile playing on her lips. "You know, those clothes look like they've been through a lot," she said, eyeing Angel's worn-out blouse and jeans. "Come on, I have a few things that might fit you."
Angel glanced up, surprised by the offer but touched by the kindness. "Thank you, dear." she said, standing and following Nami to her quarters.
Inside, Nami rummaged through a small trunk, pulling out a simple yet elegant white blouse and a navy-blue umbrella skirt. "These should do," she said, handing them over. "They're comfortable and might help you blend in better when we dock."
Angel accepted the clothes with a grateful nod. "You're very thoughtful, Nami. I'll try them on."
As Angel changed behind a makeshift curtain, Nami leaned against the wall, her curiosity getting the better of her. "You know, you're quite the mystery. It's not every day someone survives three months under water like you."
Angel emerged, the new outfit fitting her well and lending her an air of grace. "Let's just say I've had an unconventional life," she replied with a faint smile. "But I'm glad to be here now."
Before Nami could press further, Luffy"s voice rang, signaling their arrival at Logue Town.
...🚬🚬🚬...
Angel adjusted the hem of the borrowed blouse, its fresh, clean fabric a stark contrast to her earlier attire. She thanked Nami again as the two of them walked down the bustling streets of Loguetown. "You look great," Nami said with a smile, her eyes scanning the market stalls. "But if you see anything else you like, just say the word."
Angel nodded appreciatively, though her focus was elsewhere. Her gaze lingered on a hanging wooden sign swaying in the sea breeze. The faded lettering spelled out a name that sent a shiver down her spine. She slowed her pace, memories surfacing unbidden. "Angel?" Nami's voice brought her back to the present. "You okay?"
"Yes," Angel replied, forcing a smile. "Just... reminiscing."
Nami gave her a curious look but decided not to press further. "Alright. I'll meet you back at the docks in an hour. Don't get into trouble."
Angel chuckled softly. "Trouble seems to find me, not the other way around."
Nami rolled her eyes playfully before disappearing into the crowd.
"BAR, GOLDRODGER"
She read aloud, her voice barely above a whisper. Memories stirred in her mind, unbidden but vivid. She could almost see the face of someone she had once known, their laughter echoing faintly in her ears.
Shaking off the sudden wave of nostalgia, Angel stepped closer into the alley to examine the shop. The sign's faded letters and the faint hum of activity inside piqued her curiosity. She hesitated for a moment before pushing the door open, a small bell chiming to announce her arrival.
Inside, the shop was dimly lit, its shelves crammed with peculiar whisky and aged wine. Angel ran her fingers lightly over the old wood of the bar top, her mind racing with the possibilities of what she might uncover here. She felt a strange pull, as though something—or someone—was waiting for her.
Two men sat at the far end of the bar top, one dressed in a marine's uniform, the other wiping glasses with a practiced ease. Angel paid them no mind, her attention drawn instead to a dusty, untouched spinet tucked into the corner of the room.
