"Festus, sit down." Lucky interrupted, causing Vienna to snicker, "You too, Vienna."

Now it was Festus' turn to laugh, causing Vienna to shoot him a glare as they walked to their seats.

"You know something about the boy from eight, don't you, Vi?" Festus questioned quietly, so no one could hear.

"I have no idea what you are talking about," Vienna told him, ignoring him as she kept her gaze focused on the screen. The district twelve pair were shown as they sat underground.

"Then where were you last night?" He knew something was up, and he wanted to know. Vienna turned to him with a stunned expression on her face—there was no way he was really interrogating her, of all people.

"I visited Felix and went to Lucky's after. I'm not on good terms with my parents right now, and I needed a distraction from the games." Vienna lied once again, knowing he would drop the question if she mentioned her parents.

Festus looked at her with guilt in his eyes, having witnessed the mistreatment inflicted upon her by her parents countless times. He and Vienna may not get along, but he wouldn't wish her situation upon anyone.

As Vienna settled her gaze back on the screen, she felt Festus's eyes lingering on her. Uncomfortable with the scrutiny, she glanced his way, catching his eye. "Festus, stop staring," she muttered, a hint of irritation and weariness in her tone.

Festus, though understanding, couldn't help but worry for Vienna. He complied, averting his gaze, but the concern remained evident. He cared for the girl; who wouldn't?

Back on the screen, Jessup chased after Lucy Gray, the two now out in the open arena. Vienna turned her head towards the two district twelve mentors who stood up from their seats.

"Send him water." Coriolanus ordered as Jessup closed in on Lucy Gray, causing Vienna to make her back to the two mentors.

"Wait what?" Lysistrata asked, looking confused as she turned to Vienna with pain in her eyes.

"Rabies. It makes you afraid of water," Coriolanus insisted. "Send him a drone."

"It'll scare him," Lysistrata conflicted, glancing towards Jessup, who had gotten even closer to his district partner.

Getting closer to the girl, Coriolanus explained, "Yes, away from her. Jessup is done."

Shocked by the way Coriolanus was acting, she made sure the girl knew about her choices. "Lyssie, you don't have to listen to him."

Vienna hated the way Coriolanus was asking for such a thing from Lysistrata. He was only thinking of what would benefit him and his tribute.

"Lucy Gray still has a chance; I'm doing this for her. You would do it for Lamina and Mizzen, wouldn't you?" Lysistrata affirmed, a statement that resonated with Vienna.

Vienna slowly nodded in agreement; she couldn't deny the truth in Lysistrata's words. If Treech faced imminent demise with no chance of survival, Vienna acknowledged that she would muster every ounce of strength to aid the other two tributes she had grown to love and care for.

Slowly, Lysistrata reached for her desk, hesitating before clicking the water option. Coriolanus muttered a small thank you, but Lysistrata ignored him and watched the two tributes on the screen.

As the drone flew into the arena, it landed on Jessup's chest, breaking all over his clothes. Lysistrata watched as he panicked and backed away from his spot, stumbling backwards until he eventually lost his balance.

Vienna walked back to her seat, keeping her eyes off the screen, as Jessup hit the ground. The crack of his bones from his fall left an unwanted image of death in her mind. While she wanted to comfort Lysistrata, the mere thought of a similar fate befalling Treech left her paralyzed in her seat.

Vienna turned back to Lysistrata, watching the girl as she sulkily walked out of the auditorium. A wave of pity washed over Vienna in response to the girl's somber demeanor.

Coriolanus, on the other hand, kept a straight face, his eyes glued to the screen that showed Lucy Gray. Not one ounce of remorse was shed from him, as if he didn't care. Vienna had no doubt in her mind that he didn't care, and she hated it.

It wasn't the first time he displayed such indifference, and she couldn't help but despise the way he acted in his own favor. Would he do it again, definitely? To whom was the real question, and the only thing Vienna knew was she wasn't going to let it be her.

She wasn't going to let Coriolanus walk all over her like he did to Lysistrata. She had to make sure he didn't win, even if it meant acting as his friend.

Coriolanus Snow was not gonna hurt anyone else for his own benefit, not if Vienna was there to stop him.

haiiii sweethearts!!!!

I'm going to be 100% honest with
you guys—my writers block is creeping
back up. I'm trying so hard, but recently
everything I write just seems wrong to me.
But I'm not giving up, I'm trying my hardest I promise!
It may from the lack of Treech scenes
to be honest, so I maybe I should write a chapter focused on him!
stay safe, ily 🦋
