The Addams family was a gracious family. Albeit creepy and spontaneously weird. But they were kind individuals, in their own way.
While your family made arrangements to move to Salem, Massachusetts Wednesday's family provided some rooms for you and your parents. Luckily you were a few doors down from Wednesday's room.
School started back up in a week and your parents were set to start building on your new house during summer break. This gave you time to finish classes so you could help with anything needed. Wednesday even insisted on helping, though you were apprehensive at the thought of her holding a hammer. But you wouldn't tell her that.
Today, you were sitting in your room with your music playing softly in the background. Young Dumb & Broke by Khalid played. You had Nyx in your lap as you sat in the arm chair in the corner of the room, kindly provided by Gomez. It was an antique and given to him by his brother, Fester.
"Fester saved this from an asylum on one of his many adventures." Gomez had said, patting the top of the leather chair. "He said that it felt as though the souls of the damned embedded themselves in the chair."
"So don't be surprised if you get one or two visitors late at night." Morticia added.
You weren't scared of the undead, oh no, you were terrified of the living.
But alas, you didn't get any unwanted or wanted encounters with ghosts. That didn't stop you from feeling the strong supernatural aura the chair possessed. In some weird way, it was comforting to you. Like a big warm hug every time you sit in it. And Nyx seemed to like it as well because you'd catch her laid on the back of the chair, sleeping peacefully.
There came a knock at your door.
"Come in!" You call out.
The door opens slowly as Wednesday walks in shortly after. You look up from your sleeping cat only to smile warmly at the other girl. She just stared at your face with that unreadable face.
"Good evening," she greets.
"Hello love."
Pet names were still new for her but you allowed them to slip out whenever you wanted. And luckily for you, Wednesday secretly loved them. When it came from you, of course.
"I know that Christmas has long since passed but I have something for you."
You sit up straighter in your chair which causes Nyx to meow at you.
"Wednesday, my gift to you got burnt with my house. You didn't have to buy me anything."
Wednesday shook her head before walking further into the room.
"The gifts you've given me are already enough for ten birthdays and ten Christmas's combined. And yet, I haven't given you anything."
You smile wistfully. "I don't need anything-"
Wednesday shot you a look that said 'silence'. So you close your mouth and swallow back the words you were about to say.
"You told me that you wanted to learn more about the things I like."
You nod but say nothing, because you do remember writing that in one of those notes.
"We had Botanical Science together last year and while you didn't look interested, I knew you paid attention."
"It's not my favorite class but as a witch I do need to know the knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants. So I do pay attention to some degree."
Wednesday gave a curt nod that she took the information and stored it away for later. She came to a stop near the chair and her eyes shifted down to where Nyx sat in your lap still. She reaches out to graze the back of her knuckles along the felines head and back.
