7:30am

The autumn leaves fall from their branches and swift through the wind interlacing one another until settling on the ground delicately.

Crunch.

A converse clad foot steps through the pile accumulating on the cold cement sidewalk.

The soft scent of fall, the leaves, and the freshly baked goods from the local coffee shop across the street enter Luna's nose. She takes a moment standing in the pile of leaves looking around before smiling.

This is her happy place.

"Good morning, dear!" An elderly woman says, poking her head out of her door. It's her neighbor, Margie. She's in her early 70s but has the spunky attitude of someone fresh out of college. "You aren't heading to work today, are you? It's the lord's day."

Luna smiles a bit before turning on her foot to face Margie. "Well Margie, I hate to break it to you, but the corporate work life has no time to spare even on the lord's day. Truly a shame if you ask me."

The older woman smiles before shaking her head a bit. "Oh you don't have to flatter me, any young lady. I know how you young kids are nowadays."

Margie and Luna have talked like this many times before. Margie lectures the younger one in a manner that means no harm. She simply just doesn't have anyone to talk to and Luna knows this. So she allows her neighbor to make small talk even when it bores her half to death, like on days like this. Although, religion isn't her cup of tea or topic of choice, she's happy to entertain the idea for Margie.

"Have a good day Margie." Luna says simply before stepping forward heading down the sidewalk.

Luna checks her watch for a moment realizing that she's a bit behind her normal schedule.

"Crap."

Luna tightens the hold she has on her bag before quickening her pace.

Don't run, just fast walk, granny at the mall fast walk. Won't cause people to look in your direction more than necessary but should be fast enough to do the job. Just keep your head down and get to work that's all that matters because then -

CRASH

Luna collides with something in front of her. She feels a hot burning sensation on her chest causing her to exhale in pain. She begins to bat at her shirt before looking up.

"Excuse me. Are you okay?"

Blue eyes, brunette - no black hair, teeth that belong in a dental hygiene commercial. Hair is messy, too many split ends, not well kept.

"I'm fine, thank you."

Luna walks around the guy not noticing the split coffee on both her shirt and his. Her chest is hot but the autumn breeze cools it. Regardless, the area throbs from the burn. She checks her watch again.

7:53am

"Shit."

She's almost there, there's enough time, but her shirt is ruined and her face feels just as hot as the slight burn on her chest. She thinks for a moment as she's walking. She feels her face realizing it's hot but not damp like her shirt. Shaking her head she reaches a tall building and grabs the exterior door handles.

"Good morning, Ms. Langston." The secretary chimes but quiets herself quickly as she sees the intense walking speed that Luna is currently doing.

Luna nearly makes it to the elevator before stopping at the doors and turning around on her heel. "Amelia, where's my first meeting today?"
