The halls of the Red Keep were quieter than Aemond had ever heard them. His father was dead. The silence reminded him every step he took. He knew he should be in mourning, the king had just died, but no emotion could rise within him. King Viserys may have sired him, but he was never his father.

His mother was stressed, she tried to hide it from them, but Aemond could always tell. The warmth of the fire usually calmed him, but today, the uncertainty in the air couldn't be forgotten. "...Aegon must be found and he must be brought to me..." his mothers voice faded in and out of his consciousness.

"I'll come with you," Aemond called, yes that would calm him, to go looking for his idiot brother.

"That would not be my desire, Aemond," his mother walked towards him quickly and Aemond stood to meet her, "if anything has happened..." her voice trailed off and she gripped his arms.

"Cole needs me, mother. Ser Erryk is not the only one who knows Aegon's doings." His mother looked towards Ser Criston who must have nodded out of his sight, because when she turned back, Aemond saw reluctant acquiescence in her eyes.

He turned away from her and left the room to retrieve his cloak. Now- to find his brother.

The streets of King's Landing were as disgusting as ever, especially down here in flea bottom. Cole and him had been searching for what must be hours. All the brothels had been failures, with no-one knowing where Prince Aegon had been the night before.

"Here I am trawling the city, ever the good soldier, in search of a waistrell who's never taken half and interest in his birthright," Aemond paused, anger filling him just at the thought, "It is the younger brother who studies history and philosophy, who trains with the sword, who rides the largest dragon in the world. It is I who should be k-" Aemond cut himself off, no , Aegon the first born son, he was the rightful heir.

"I know what it is to toil for what others are freely given," Cole said as he walked closer.

Aemond hummed, that was true enough, he supposed, "we can't find him Cole, we are decent men with no taste for depravity, his secrets are his own, he's welcome to them," Aemond paused, the words he was going to say became stuck in his throat, they weren't right. Cole simply nodded, as if he knew what Aemond was thinking and they turned to continue down the alley.
