Love vs. Lust
I watched as the corner of his mouth turned up into a smile and for a second I forgot where I was, lost in his happiness. We just stood there, staring at each other until Cole’s phone rang and brought us back to reality.
He took it out of his jeans pocket and looked at the caller ID.
“It’s Conner,” he said before answering. I nodded my head and waited while he spoke to him. Cole quickly told him what was going on with Gordon and then hung up.
“What do you want to do now?” he asked, focusing his attention back on me.
“I guess we should go home and come back later like the doctor said,” I answered, looking at my watch. It was after three in the morning and there wasn’t much we could do at the hospital at the moment anyway.
“Ok, come on then,” Cole agreed, taking my hand and leading me out of the hospital.
We didn’t speak on the drive home and by the time Cole pulled into my driveway I could feel myself starting to freak out. A lot happened today and I honestly didn’t know how Cole felt about any of it. I mean, I told him that I love him more then I love Gordon and he hasn’t said anything about it yet, what does that mean?
I got out of the car as soon as he cut off the engine and started making my way to the house. Conner opened the front door as I reached it and immediately pulled me into a hug.
“I don’t even know what to say anymore,” he stated once he let go of me.
“Tell me about it,” I replied, smiling at him as I stepped inside.
“What’s going to happen now that he’s awake?” Conner asked, following me into the living room with Cole close behind.
“I don’t know, the doctors are still busy running tests so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see,” I replied. Conner nodded his head in understanding and then turned to look at Cole who was just standing there.
“We should try to get some sleep,” I said, walking over to him and taking his hand.
“That’s a good idea,” Conner stated as he started making his way to his room. I led Cole to my room and then closed the door behind us.
“Why are you being so distant?” I asked, turning to him. I was really starting to get worried that I did something wrong that made him mad at me.
“I just thought you might want some space, you know, to think about things,” he replied, his voice thick with concern.
“I don’t need space, I need you,” I replied as I closed the distance between us and threw my arms around his neck.
Our lips clashed against each other and I could feel his need for me in the way his lips moved against mine. The kiss didn’t start off slow, it was filled with passion, love and lust from the very start and only grew with intensity until I had to pull away to breath.
“Are you sure,” he asked, breathing heavily and I knew what he was really asking me. He wasn’t asking me if I was sure that I needed him and wanted to kiss him, he was asking me if I was sure that I wanted him and not Gordon.
“Yes,” I whispered, pulling him closer again. His face lit up with happiness as I spoke the words and I couldn’t help but feel happy too.
We kissed until we were out of breath again and then got into bed. We didn’t make love but Cole held me in his arms until I fell asleep.
I woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs and felt my tummy rumble as I sat up and looked around my room. Cole was nowhere to be seen so I jumped out of bed and ran to the kitchen, wanting to make sure that he didn’t leave.
I felt my body relax as soon as I saw him and couldn’t stop myself from running to him and jumping into his arms. Luckily he realized what I was going to do before I did it or we both would have fallen. I could tell that my actions took him by surprise from the look on his face but it didn’t take him long to recover. He spun me around and then kissed me tenderly.
“You need to concentrate on the food buddy,” Conner said from the table, causing me to blush. I was so happy to see Cole that I completely forgot about Conner.
“Way to ruin a moment,” Cole complained as he put me back down on my feet and focused his attention back on the food he was busy making. Conner just laughed at us and then continued doing whatever he was doing on his phone.
I was still wearing my clothes from yesterday since I was way too tired to change last night so I walked over to the table and sat down next to Conner. He put down his phone and looked at me worriedly.
“How are you holding up?” he asked,
“Ok, I guess,” I replied. Conner asked a few more questions and then lightened the subject by starting a conversation about college with Cole.
They talked about how Conner was doing with his football practice for a while and then I helped Cole dish up breakfast. He really isn’t a great cook but I didn’t complain, I was hungry and the fact that he made us breakfast was so sweet that it didn’t really matter how it tasted. Once we were done eating I insisted on doing the dishes while they chatted.
“Do you want me to take you to go see Gordon?” Cole asked as he wrapped his arms around me from behind.
“Yes please but first I need to take a shower and get out of these clothes,” I replied, turning around in his arms and giving him a quick kiss on the lips. I knew how hard this whole situation must be on him and he was being really amazing. Every second I spend with him I love him more.
“I should probably change to,” Cole said, leaning forward and kissing me again.
“Maybe I can help you with that,” I whispered, taking his hand and leading him out of the kitchen.
