Sun rays peeped through the window and fell on Sidharth's eyes, stirring him out of his sleep. Sidharth opened his eyes and blinked them a few times to adjust his eyes to the bright light of the sun. He yawned and tried to get up but was unable to do so as when he tried to get up, he felt a weight on his chest, as if something or someone was holding him.
Last night after Khushali promised Sidharth that she would tell him everything about her past, she dozed off but kept on crying in her sleep. Sidharth on the other hand was restless as he knew he couldn't keep his promise of total transparency in their relationship.
He kept tossing and turning, unable to sleep because of his restlessness. When he turned towards her, he saw tear stains on her face and thought maybe she was awake but she wasn't.
Seeing her tears, he couldn't help but wipe them. While he was wiping her tears, Khushali kept her head on his arm and moved closer to him in her sleep, murmuring something in her sleep which he couldn't understand as it was somewhat inaudible to him.
He lightly smiled to himself seeing her like that and then placed her head on his chest slowly, not disturbing her sleep. He placed his arms around her waist and closed his eyes. Feeling peaceful and calm, soon he too drifted into sleep.
He was looking at her, when he saw a cute frown form on her face as the sunlight was falling on her. He got up and drew the curtains over the windows. He turned back and saw that his wifey's frown was replaced by a sweet smile. He went and sat beside her.
He took her hand in his and wished there was a way he could confess his feelings to Khushali but he couldn't. He knew she didn't feel anything for him, rather for her he was just a friend. He was also aware of the fact that she always thought that he had done favour on her by marrying her but that wasn't true. He married her because he had his own reasons, one of them was that she's his Meher Bhabhi's sister, other reasons, he couldn't tell her.
But what hurt him more was that, even though he told her that she didn't need to feel indebted to him, yet she still was and that was why he didn't want to profess his love for her. Because he knew she felt guilty thinking that she ruined my life but the truth was his life was never this good.
If he told her that he was in love with her, he was sure she'll feel guilty and would do anything to compensate, without thinking about herself. And he didn't want that to happen ever! And then her past, which had its own significance to him, didn't matter to him, as long as he had her. And he would do anything to keep her with himself!
While still holding her hand, he recalled his conversation with Kavya a couple of days back......
Sidharth was sitting in his study, reading a file, when Kavya came there. She sat in front of him and said, "Bhai, if you don't mind then can we talk please? "
Sidharth, who hadn't looked up till then, instantly looked up at her and said, "Yes Kavya why not? Is there anything serious? I mean you don't look like your usual self? All fine with Arhaan?"
Kavya nodded her head and replied, "Yes all is fine between me and Arhaan. But I can't say the same for you. Bhai would answer me honestly if I ask you something, you love Khushali Bhabhi, don't you?"
Sidharth looked down and pressed his lips together not knowing what to tell his sister. He knew she had been observing him for some time and he was sure he hadn't fooled her with his act.
He looked at her and said softly, "Yes I do! But I don't want her to know about this. It will hurt her."
Kavya got up from her chair and kneeled down in front of her brother and whispered to him, "Bhai that's just an assumed notion that it would hurt her. Unless and until you won't tell her about your feelings, how will you know about her reaction?"
