"Wow!" Buddar exclaimed in awe as she and Link walked through the gate.
The lake was absolutely beautiful. The water was crystal clear and sparkled in the afternoon sunlight.
Link smiled. "Pretty, isn't it?" He asked as they walked down to the water's edge.
"Pretty?" She asked. "This place is absolutely gorgeous!"
Link chuckled in amusement, then crouched down at the edge of the water and took out the empty bottle. He dipped it in the water and filled the bottle, then closed the bottle and handed it to Buddar, who put it into her bag.
Buddar sat down beside Link, staring out at the beautiful water. Link, however, wasn't focused on the scenery. His gaze was set on the gorgeous woman sitting beside him. He moved closer to her, he slowly slid his hand towards where hers was, but then hesitated, and pulled his hand back.
He sighed slightly, looking down. Buddar heard him, and turned her head to look at him. "Something wrong?" She asked.
Link shook his head. "No, I'm fine," he lied.
She frowned. "Are you sure?" She asked. "If there's something bothering you, you don't have to be afraid to tell me about it. We're friends, after all."
Link frowned slightly. "Yeah, friends..." He said, then looked up at her. "Do you think of anyone as more than just a friend?"
She gave him a confused look. "What do you mean?" She asked.
"I mean do you like anyone?" He asked. "Do you have feelings for anyone?"
Buddar was silent for a moment, then shook her head. "I don't think so," she said. "Why do you ask?"
Link shrugged. "I was just curious," he replied, glancing out at the lake.
Buddar stared at him for a few moments, then smirked mischievously. "Oh my," she said teasingly. "Does the great hero have a crush on someone?"
Link's cheeks turned bright red as he glanced over at her. "What?!" He exclaimed, eyes widening. "No! I don't, I swear!"
Buddar grinned. "Oh my goddesses, you do!" She said, laughing. "Who is it? Princess Zelda?"
He shook his head, his cheeks turning an even darker shade of red. "No, no!" He said, flustered. "It's not her!"
She laughed even harder. "Yeah, suuuure!" She teased. "Don't deny it, Link! You love her, don't you?"
"No, I don't!" He exclaimed. "I love someone else!"
Buddar giggled. "Oh yeah?" She asked. "Who is it?"
He looked away from her. "I can't tell you," he mumbled.
"Aw, that's no fun," she said, still smiling. "Can you at least yell me what she's like?"
Link was silent for a while, then he sighed. "She's beautiful," he began. "She's tough, but I've seen her soft side a couple of times. She doesn't give up easily, and she won't ever go down without a fight. She's reckless at times, but she's smart. She cares a lot about the people who are important to her, and she harbors a dark secret that nobody else knows, not even I do."
He looked up at the sky. "I love her," he said softly. "But... I don't know if I should tell her. I don't want her to reject me, but if I don't tell her, she might never know how I feel. She might even feel the same way towards me, but I can't tell."
Buddar listened to him silently. She reached up, hesitated for a moment, then gently placed her hand on his shoulder in an attempt to comfort him. He glanced over at her, and she gave him a small reassuring smile. "I'm not an expert on love or anything," she said. "But if I were you, I'd tell her. And if she does reject you, she's probably not worth it. You're a great guy, Link. I doubt she'll reject you. Who knows? Maybe you'll even marry her one day." Her reassuring smile turned into a silly smirk again. "But don't forget to invite me to the wedding," she teased.
Link smiled softly at her. "Trust me, I won't," he said, chuckling lightly.
'It would be your wedding, after all,' he thought, his heart fluttering at the thought of seeing Buddar in a wedding dress as she walked up to the alter where he would be standing, waiting for her. He sighed dreamily, a light blush spreading across his cheeks.
Buddar smiled slightly. "You thinking about marrying her, now?" She asked.
He nodded, smiling. Buddar laughed softly, standing up. "Well, sorry to interrupt your fantasies," she said, holding out her hand towards him. "But it's time to go. We still have one last ingredient to get so we can save Shadow."
Link glanced up at her, then took her hand, allowing her to help him to his feet. He smiled, then reached up and gently brushed her bangs out of her face. "Let's go," he said, then led her away from the lake and towards the gate, his hand still holding hers.
