"hannie you know what? Daddy came to drop me to school today"
"Oh really? That's great!"
Jeonghan turns to place the glass of hot chocolate in front of hanuel who smiles before grabbing the glass. Hanuel as usual was at jeonghan's house spending time with him and sharing about his day. Jeonghan is happy that seungcheol finally decided to take some time out of his busy schedule and drop hanuel to school, though it was Mina who picked him but a small step is still a effective step.
"So, how was your day at school, buddy?" Jeonghan asked, trying to steer the conversation towards Hanuel's experiences.
Hanuel's eyes lit up as he began to excitedly share about his day. He talked about his friends, the games they played during recess, and the new project his teacher had assigned. Jeonghan listened attentively, cherishing every word that came out of hanuel's mouth.
"Do you want to do something fun? Like drawing? Painting?" Jeonghan suggests when hanuel finished his cup of hot chocolate. "Can we read stories?" Hanuel looks up at Jeonghan with puppy eyes and the latter smiles before picking the small kid in his arms and making his way to the couch.
"Okay, what stories do you want to read?" Jeonghan asks as he opens the small cabinet that holds the story books he has at home. Being a kindergarten teacher Jeonghan always tries to read as many as stories possible so that they can come handy when the toddler back at work ask for stories.
Hanuel's eyes light up with excitement as he sees the collection of storybooks. He points to a book with colorful illustrations of animals on the cover and says, "Can we read about animals,? I love animals!"Jeonghan chuckles and nods, grabbing the book and settling down on the couch with Hanuel in his lap. As he opens the book, Hanuel snuggles closer, eagerly waiting for the story to begin.
"Mina, where is hanuel?" Seungcheol questions the first thing entering his house to find the elderly women standing at the dining table and arranging for dinner. "He is Jeonghan's place Mr Choi, should I go and fetch him?" Mina says rubbing her hands over the apron but seungcheol stops her.
"It's okay, I'll go and fetch him. You set the table up" seungcheol gives a polite smiles before making his way out of the door again. Today was surprisingly very peaceful for seungcheol himself. Maybe because he finally got assigned to the new series their company is making or that he got to drop his son to school. Which one? Seungcheol can excatly pinpoint on it.
The way hanuel's eyes were shining through the whole car ride made seungcheol overwhelmed. Has he been missing this heavenly sight just for his work? Seungcheol feels useless. He hopes he could be able to make more time for hanuel in future. And ofcourse Jeonghan too, he needs to thank Jeonghan for helping him too.
"Should I call him over for dinner?" Seungcheol pounders on the thought as he nears the door to knock but sees that the door is still open. Seungcheol gulps as the scene of him walking in Jeonghan's house last time without knocking flashes in his mind. Seungcheol's hand tightens on the knob before he pushes in. Fuck it--
Seungcheol stops in his track to see Jeonghan curled up on the couch with a book in his hand and hanuel laying on jeonghan's chest. The latter seems to be reading out a story for hanuel maybe.
Jeonghan starts reading, his voice filled with warmth and enthusiasm. He brings the characters to life, using different voices for each animal. Hanuel listens intently, his eyes wide with wonder as he imagines the animals in his mind.
Seungcheol's heart swells at the sight, a warm feeling spreading through his chest. He can't help but smile softly, feeling a sense of peace wash over him. Jeonghan looks up from his book, his eyes meeting Seungcheol's.
"Hey," Jeonghan says, his voice gentle. "I didn't hear you come in."
Seungcheol walks over to them, his eyes never leaving the beautiful scene in front of him. "I didn't want to disturb you," he replies, his voice filled with warmth. "You two look so peaceful."Jeonghan smiles, his fingers gently stroking hanuel's hair.
"He fell asleep while I was reading to him," he explains. "I couldn't bring myself to move."
"Did you just get back from work?" Jeonghan asks softly as he lets his eyes roam over seungcheol's attire. His white shirt rolled up till his elbow and tucked nicely in his pants. The forehead bangs parts at middle and softly fallen over his forehead. His chest looking more toned in the white shirt and the first two button undone as the black Rolex watch settled on his left hand. Yup, seungcheol is definitely back from work just now.
Seungcheol chuckles softly, a tired but content smile on his face. "Yeah, just got back," he replies, running a hand through his hair. "Long day, but it feels good to be home."
"How was your day with hanuel? Did you like it?" Jeonghan asks as he pats hanuel's back slowly and seungcheol contented. "Yes I did, he was so happy to see me dropping him off to school" seungcheol says a proud smile playing on his lips and Jeonghan smiles feeling happy.
Finally!
"Did you have dinner?" Seungcheol asks suddenly that it surprises Jeonghan. "Huh?" He asks. Seungcheol clears his throat before giving it a try again.
"If you haven't had dinner yet, you can join me and han--no wait--"
"Can you join me and hanuel for dinner?"
Seungcheol needs Jeonghan to have dinner with them.
Jeonghan smiles at Seungcheol's sudden invitation. "Sure, I haven't had dinner yet. I'd love to join you and Hanuel," he says.
Seungcheol looks relieved and nods. "Great, let's go then," he says, bending down to take hanuel in his arms. Jeonghan gets up from the couch straightening his clothes and follows seungcheol.
Seungcheol and Jeonghan make thier way to seungcheol's house with hanuel in his arms. Mina was placing the last dish on the table as she hears the ring Bell. She wipes her hands over the used apron before walking to open the door.
"Welcome home"
Mina greets them as her eyes rakes over seungcheol standing with sleeping hanuel in his arms and Jeonghan standing beside him. A perfect and ideal fam---
"Come in" Seungcheol says as he walks in and Jeonghan follows inside quietly. This is probably the first time jeonghan is entering seungcheol's house without any drama or tension. The first time being when hanuel was alone with a broken vase and the second time with seungcheol's naked chest in display.
"Mina you can stay for dinner too" Seungcheol says as turns around to look at Mina who shakes her head politely. "Thankyou sir, but I need to go back home. My daughter is alone" Mina says as she bows before grabbing her things and making her way to the door.
"Let me wake hanuel up, till then you can go and freshen up" Jeonghan suggests as he takes hanuel from seungcheol's arms who nods at the latter before making his way inside the bedroom.
