There's an emptiness inside of Kate Warner. She's a hallow shell of the woman she used to be, once warm like the sun, she burned those who reached too closely. A weapon. When the world went quiet, all the energy burning out and society collapsing beneath her feet, Kate felt her rage reach an operatic level of intensity. She seethed, burning and snarling at anyone who even blinked at her.
A woman of once noble and dignified stature, was now a predator; her boot pressed against the world's neck and everything bended under the pressure of her hand. A guard turned general, callous and harsh; a woman who slaughtered and tortured and controlled. She was daunting, terrifying. A creature of unmeasurable darkness. It seeped out of her like ink, staining everything she touched black.
It was no surprise when her sister ran out, barely touched by her darkness but shaken enough to know that she couldn't end up as cold as her sister became. Mindy was light and good and pure; the angel who stood serenely besides her cruel sister. They changed roles since the fall of the world, since the end of it all. Their history burned into their backs and they ran from their pasts; Mindy abandoned her sister as she created an ocean of blood she'd never escape. Kate ran from the burden of her family name, but ended up with the same hard eyes.
The past will not go away unless it is confronted; and that's what Joel Miller is, their righteous confrontation. A man who knew them long before the end, long before the corruption. They'd all changed, they'd all lost and been lost and had grown cold to their humanities. But at their bones they were still the ghosts of the people they'd once been. All it took was a snarky teenage girl and a road-trip to bring them back to the light.
Everyone gets second chance, even people who are doomed.

Author's Note I. WELCOME back to The Great War!!!! I've added a few new characters to our cast list (Diego & Negan), to add a bit more personality to our story. Diego is Mindy's love interest whereas Negan is Kate's secondary love interest.
