The Call

I looked up at the grey building. It wasn't large but it had 2 stories and a lot of windows.

"Darwin?" I ask through my ear piece.

"What's up buttercup?" His voice comes clearly through my ear. I scowl. Why did I choose him? The past month with him has been annoying but he's grown on me.

"Is she still here?"

"Let me hack the security cameras....again....for the fourth time....this week." He sighs. "Yes she's still there. Her last day too."

"Thanks." I say bluntly as a ray of sun hits me through the tall buildings of the city. I smooth my hair. I've cut it above my shoulders and dyed it blood red. I kinda like it, but because it's unique, I have to wear the long red wig when I'm the X.

I go to the front doors and open them. I hear people moving items out of the gymnasium and cafeteria. I frown. I guess when a second terrorist attack happens at a school they decide to shut it down. I sigh, only one less target for the villains of this town.

I laugh inside, I am one of the villains of this town.

I walk down the familiar hallways, the posters and papers have been ripped from the walls. Random lockers are open, some with garbage in them. I shake my head. Teenagers are treated like children, so they act like children. Sadly, it doesn't get better. I continue to walk down the hallway and right into the physical sciences room. I see Kate Harley rapidly typing on her computer. Most of her silly scientific cat posters are down and in boxes. I watch her for a minute before shutting the door loudly. She looks up in anger at first but then she sees me.

"My God! Johanna!" She stands up and smooths her skirt as she comes out from around her desk. I hug her in a friendly way and then sit on top of the few desks in the room.

"Kate, you look great." I smile. She smiles and then looks at me a bit confused.

"What are you doing here?" She crosses her arms and cocks her head to the side. I smile and motion her to sit down. She sits on top of the desk across from me.

"I know this school is done and I know there isn't a whole lot of work for people like us out there. I know you haven't found a job and I know that Tom left you. Now, I know this is going to come off rude but honey, you need help." I frown. Tom, her husband, was a dick anyway. Kate was too pretty and smart for him. I was glad to hear they had split. Kate bites her lips and I see a bit of a tear in her eye.

"You're right. I'm pretty much screwed but...how can you help?" Her voice is a little shaky but I smile reassuringly and she swallows confidently.

"I need you to help me, I need some one with you're expertise since you were going to be a scientist before you heard the call of teaching, plus it would be more fun with another woman on the team." I shrug with a smile.

"I heard that." Darwin whispers into my earpiece. I giggle a little bit and then look at Kate who is a little freaked out.

"What kind of team?"

"One that will change the future of Central City forever." I smile. "If you're interested, just call me." I take a pre-written sheet of paper out of my jean pocket. I hand it to her and smile. I get off the desk and walk out of the room. I leave her sitting, pondering over what just happened and why it was so brief. I couldn't tell her right off the bat, I had to make sure she was into it first. Couldn't have too many people knowing who I was.

I walk down the hallways for one last time and out the front doors. I hear rain as I walk through the entryway and feel it as I go outside. I shiver as the cold water hits my skin like little pellets. I shrug them off as I walk down the streets. The city is bustling so I take alleyways home. The homeless watch me as I pass. I only see one group so I give them all the money I have in my pockets. I feel bad for them, all alone and in the rain. They all wear old clothing but it's not ragged just battered a bit. A woman holds a young child. I stop in the alleyway. I kneel by her and give her a twenty dollar bill. The young child is a young girl with dark blonde hair and blue eyes. I brush her hair and look at the mother, or caretaker.

"I'm going to change this city." I whisper to her and stand up. I take off my sweater and lay it on top of them. The woman smiles and nods to me. I stand up and walk away from them in only a t-shirt. Now I'm really cold, but I don't care. I smile as I make my way to the Core. I open the door and climb up the stairs to the main room. I open room 409, my own room, and then open the door to the Core. Darwin sits blowing bubbles in the air, his feet up on the desk as he leans back in the chair; Gideon criticizes him.

"What if the soap gets into the machinery?" She asks.

"It won't." He replies. I shut the door loudly and Darwin sits up and hides the bubbles. He gives me a strange look. I look down at myself and see I was wearing a white t-shirt and its soaking wet, fantastic.

"It's raining outside." I said before walking towards the computers and typing in the code to make Gideon sleep. "Night Gideon." I click the button. I turn around to Darwin who looks up at me.

"How did it go?" He asks.

"You heard everything, it went fine." I roll my eyes with a smile. Darwin nods. Then his face becomes serious.

"Um, while you were gone, I went into that room, the one you said not to go into and I saw that screen or newscast and um, I..." His voice trails off. I close my eyes. Idiot.

"It's the future, that's all you need to know." I nod and he nods. I sigh.

"How is the time machine going?" I ask. Darwin perks up.

"Pretty great, thanks to you stealing stuff." He smiles sarcastically. I roll my eyes. "However, we need more, maybe from S.T.A.R Labs?"

"I can do that." I smile.

Just then the phone rings. I smile and pick it up,

"That was quick Kate."

"This isn't Kate." Barry's voice comes through the receiver. I stiffen and look at Darwin.

"Barry, this is a surprise." I bite my lip. "What can I do for you?"

"I know what you are planning and I know that you are creating a team. We've hacked into the security cameras of you're hideout." I frown and look around. Damn, why would Harrison/Eobard put in cameras? I roll my eyes,

"Good, then you know what I can do and what I have. You would only call me if you were scared to face me. You want me to surrender or what? Barry Allen, you can't even harm a fly. I will  not tolerate what you will do." I laugh. "You did this, you made me this, you made these terrorists come. Everything is your fault! You should run Barry, before I get this entire town flipped on you." I seethe into the phone. There is silence on the other end.

"I know."

He hangs up and I press the off button.

"I'm going to S.T.A.R Labs tonight." I decide in my head. Darwin shakes his head in confusion.

"Why?" He asks. I look at him and think of the blond little girl with those  blue eyes, I think of the school I worked at, as it runs down, I think of all of the people I hurt and why I did it.

"Because I don't want to be a villain anymore."
