Being practically raised by the Duttons seems like a dream for some. But Elisabeth had it rough. Her dad was a runaway and her mom was never around. When she turned 12, she found work all the way up in Montana at the Yellowstone Ranch. Not only did...
"Yeah... it's me..." A shy little grin tugged at his lips as he began to approach her table.
"I thought... I thought you were-"
"Dead?" He finished for her, that wolfish smile of his tugging at her heartstrings as he tucked his hands into his pockets.
"I mean... yeah." She breathed, brushing a hand over her hair.
"Ha... I'm a little slicker than you think, darlin'. He purred, subtly looking her up and down.
"Jeez... how long has it been? Over a decade?" She asked him, still in shock.
Beau was a boy who had once worked on the Yellowstone alongside her, having been sent out with Travis as a sort of behavioral therapy.
With him being eighteen and Elisabeth being sixteen, their juvenile ways had gotten the better of them, and they became lovers.
Long rodeo nights often ended in the two sneaking off to the truck or trailer to make love to each other.
But that had been over a decade ago, and the two had clearly gone their separate ways.
Beau nodded, placing himself beside her at the wooden table. "Yes ma'am. The hell are you doin' in OKC anyway? I thought the Yellowstone had you on a tight leash."
Elisabeth chuckled. "Not anymore. That was when we were on the road with Travis."
"Speakin' of that ol' boy, how's he been? What's he up to?"
"He's doing great. Makin' big money in the rodeo circuit. He's got cow horses and reining horses goin' for him."
"Still in the rodeo circuit, huh?"
Elisabeth nodded, taking in his appearance. "Mhm."
"Ha... we had our own little rodeo goin' on for a little bit." He said slyly.
"Yep... wild ass kids."
"Y'know..." He started. "I still have that picture of you sacked out in Travis's lap after you won Nationals for cutting at the Jim Norick Arena."
"No way... that picture's old as dirt."
"It's old but... I've kept it." Beau slipped a hand into the breast pocket of his shirt and unfolded the picture.

"Still wearing your boots from competing... but you were so tired that you just put a pair of shorts on, laid down and you were out. Travis made me drive back to Texas because he wanted you to rest. God, you were such a workaholic... it's one of the things I loved about you."
"Still am. I know when to rest though. Doesn't mean I always do it but... I know when to stop now."
"You were always so determined. Stubborn too. Jesus, I remember when you clocked Lloyd in the jaw after he compared you to your father."
