"My wife," he muttered and tore open a portal back to the castle.
"Well you seem excited." Avery said sarcastically.
"I told you Avery, there is something about her, she does something to me. I hate her when she's gone but when she's here...I just," he sighed, "Let's just go she won't like that I wasn't there waiting for her."
Despite the questions she still had Avery held her tongue as he walked through the portal. Avery followed suit and crashed into something hard. She fell to the ground and saw an angry Hades looking down at her.
"Be careful Avery," he said harshly and hoisted her up.
"Sorry I couldn't see where I was going, I just blindly walked through a glowing hole," she bit back.
He sighed, "I didn't mean to be so curt with you, this whole thing just has me on edge," he explained.
"Where is she?" She asked softly.
He gestured to the door in front of them, "In the throne room."
She put her hands on his shoulders, "You can do this, let's go. It should be fun to meet your wife."
"Avery," he whispered.
"Shh," she hushed him, "We have to do this."
He pulled her into a hug and held her there. Something about the moment was final and Avery got a sinking feeling about what was about to happen. He gently kissed her on the head and then pulled away. He opened the door and there at the end of the long room sat Persephone.
She lazed across Hades throne, her long blonde ringlets strewn out behind her. Her full lips were stained red from the bowl of pomegranate seeds she was eating. When she noticed them she giggled and tossed the bowl in the air, littering the ground with the small red jewels.
She stood up and ran across the floor with her bare feet. The seeds were ground into the floor as she went. When she reached Hades she jumped into his arms and kissed him.
"I missed you my king," she said sweetly.
Hades demeanor shifted and he grinned and lifted her into the air, spinning them both, "I missed you too my queen."
"I was wondering when you'd finally get here," she said and pouted her lip, "I was worried you forgot about me."
"Never my dear," he said and nuzzled her closer.
Avery was taken aback by his behavior. Just moment ago he was dreading this reunion yet now he seemed overjoyed to see her. She cleared her throat to get his attention.
Persephone looked over his shoulder at her, "And who is this?"
He turned, "This is Avery Koptis, she is a moirai I took in because she needed protection."
"Oh you're so sweet protecting this helpless girl." She cooed.
Avery scoffed, "Nice to meet you," she said sarcastically, "I've heard so much about you."
"Only nice things I hope," Persephone said turning back towards Hades.
"Mhmm," Avery responded but Persephone was already preoccupied with Hades mouth.
"Alright I'm going to go, I have a lot of papers to look through. Thanks for today Hades, I'll see you guys later."
"Mm wait Avery," Hades said as they stopped to take a breath, "Today is the day of grievances. Stay we already have a chair set up for you."
