Jeane was still looking out the window. That was the only hint that she was upset, probably. Earlier, it was like she was giving off a glow. She couldn't wait to go to school, and she loved having a reason to wear her Beacon sweatshirt with a cute pair of moon and sun earrings, on her human ears of course. She was also so proud to show me how she finally did her own two french braids while still incorporating her white strip of hair in her bangs. As soon as I told her that Adam was outside, it's like a mirror was cracked. Now, her eyes appeared dull, and her wolf ears slightly wilted. She had her left arm up on the side and covered her mouth too. I don't understand why Jeane's been on edge whenever Adam's near lately. She never tells me why either. She just says she "doesn't feel sure about him anymore."

"Blake, are you even listening?" I heard Adam call my name.

"Huh, what?" I looked towards him. I almost forgot he doesn't wear a blindfold when he drives. He wears it while he's fighting, so I was surprised to find out he doesn't drive with it on as well.

"Of course not," Adam mumbled. "I asked you when school ends. I wanted to take you on a date."

Jeane's wolf ear twitched.

"4:00PM. You'll still drop off Jeane though, right?"

"I was planning on taking her with us at first. There's some plans with the White Fang that I want you two involved in."

My ears wilted. "Okay." I love having Jeane near, but I want to spend time with just Adam for once.

"I can drop her off after, and we can spend time together at the hideout," Adam offered.

"Sure," I said.

"Jeane, are you listening?" Adam called over his shoulder. I'm slightly concerned as to how he's driving without looking; but he wears a blindfold while fighting too, after all.

"Hm?" Jeane continued looking out the window. We were only two blocks away from Beacon High now.

"I have to tell both you and Blake something before you go." He said. "Don't trust anyone there. Not the principal, the students, or even the Faunus."

"Not even the Faunus?" I repeated. Why not our own people?

"Why." Jeane more so demanded rather than asked. She shuffled around and looked in his direction now.

"They're either lying or brainwashed. The humans will say they treat everyone fairly, even while they continue to look down on us," Adam said. "And the Faunus there will only say they've been treated fairly because they have been in the system for years. They only treat them better to ensure their loyalty against us."

"Sure," she said with a hint of sarcasm. Oh, boy...

"Do you think I'm lying?" Adam sneered.

"Adam, not now, please?" I pleaded. I really don't want them to argue already; it's only 7 in the morning.

"I never said you were lying," Jeane responded blatantly.

"Tch. You'd understand if you were scarred rather than a sheltered princess," Adam remarked.

Jeane shifted back to her old position, looking through the window once again, as tension filled in the silence. We had finally arrived at Beacon High.

We were about 40 minutes early, so after asking around and reading a few signs, we managed to go get to the Student Services office to get our schedules.

"Please sign here in recognition that you have received your schedules," the receptionist said. After signing, we took our schedules and left.

"Blake, lemme see! What's your schedule like?" Jeane asked as we started walking back to the common area.

"Here, I haven't really looked at it yet," I said. I put my schedule between us so she could see as well.

The only difference in our schedules was that she had Psychology with Ms. Chiffon during 3rd period. She managed to finish her foreign language classes when she was a freshman, so aside from the Huntress program, Jeane had a free elective. I was on missions for the White Fang with Adam at the time, so I didn't have the time to take any extra classes other than necessary ones.

"I guess we really will be learning together," I said.

"That's cool. Just one thing: no competing, alright?" Jeane had a slight frown and a pleading expression. Her wolf ears also tilted downward slightly.

I smiled at this. "You're the competitive one. That's for you to follow," I responded. Her ears perked up immediately.

"I'm not that competitive! Not with friends anymore at least," she exclaimed with a more so comedic than insulted look.

"Sure you aren't." I continued walking towards an isolated bench outside the cafeteria while Jeane tried desperately to defend herself. Hopefully, it'll be quiet enough to read The Man With 2 Souls."

"Sooo... what are we going now?" Jeane asked as we reached the table.

"I'm going to stay here and read. 1st period starts in 30 minutes," I said. "You can do whatever you want." I sat down and started reading.

"Uh, okay." Jeane sat next to me and played on her phone.

Within the next five minutes, four boys were walking in our direction. The boy closest in the front of the group kept tightening his already scrunched up face as he got closer. He had chestnut brown hair, was bulky, wore a football T-shirt, and appeared quite tall, but other than that, he didn't look like he'd be a serious threat. However, I slightly kicked at Jeane under the table to get her attention.

"Hm?" She looked up from her phone and scanned the area immediately. She noticed them, too. "What're we doing? Staying or leaving?"

"Um, let's...stay."
