With a shrug of her shoulder and a hesitant smile, she spoke. "I don't want to intervene in personal matters but – You seem sad."
At her statement, I falter on the inside. I feign a smile, "I-I'm fine." I croak. When there was a sound of thunder and a flash of lightning, I shivered before looking above.
There were dark clouds smothering the once beautiful and calm atmosphere. In a minute or two, it began drizzling. "There's a café five minutes from Luna Park," I said.
In a hurry, Valeria and I leave Luna Park and start walking in the direction of the café. "It can't be worse than-son of a bitch." I cursed when the rain began pouring harder and heavier.
"Let's run!"
I nod in agreement and follow Valeria as she starts running. "I read the weather forecast online, on TV and on the Newspaper but I did think to bring an umbrella, no – no I didn't," I said, rambling as I was running. "The reason? I can't think straight because I am caught in between two people I care about! Gosh, I feel like I'm in a cliché book – and if I am. Well, I don't like the author."
I scowl at Vale who was giggling at my sudden, crazy outburst, "I-I'm sorry." She said, in an effort to stop her laughing.
"Oh ha, ha - hilarious." I pout.
In a while, Vale and I are in front of Rosa's sweet café. "Good- Oh, Tia darling! What a pleasant surprise."
"Hello, Rosa!"
Rosa was the owner of the café, and we met through Josh because she was his aunt. However because she's in her mid-twenties, she doesn't quite like the sound of 'Aunt'. According to her, she felt old. Aunt R- I mean, Rosa was a short brunette, with chocolate-coloured eyes and she was a little on the plus size but despite it – I thought she was beautiful.
Remember, size didn't matter.
"Rosa, meet Vale – she's a new friend of mine," I said.
"Hello sweetheart, nice to meet you!"
Vale's smile was brighter than before, "Hi! Your sweets look delicious."
'She's a cheerful ball, isn't she?'
Once we order, Vale and I sit in a booth.
"So?"
I look at Vale, "What's wrong?"
"I could ask a similar question."
For a moment or two, there was awkward silence in the air. "I'm a little caught." I start when I felt like I could trust her despite being someone I met a few minutes ago. "At the beginning of school, I met Logan Sutherland-"
"Oh I've seen him, he is handsome."
I muse, "Oh is he?"
With a sheepish smile, she urges me to talk. I snort, but nonetheless, I start talking again. "We started a bet – the first one to fall in love with the opponent loses their title as Player. At first, I was a hundred per cent certain I'd be the winner because I didn't like him. Logan is a nerd and when he was around, I thought of someone from the past – Andre, my ex-boyfriend" I begin telling her about Andre, telling her about how Andre was the reason father and mother are dead, telling her about how I started hating Nerds because of him.
Telling her, everything.
"But then-" I look at the pink table, and smile fondly at the thought of Logan, "I started feeling different whenever Logan was around, I felt like I was on cloud nine. But because of the bet between us, I didn't think about it until we spent the night together in Perth." At the memories, I sigh in delight. "It was wonderful – No it was much more, it felt magical." When Rosa was at our table, she placed our order on the table before walking off to serve another customer. I took a sip of the hot green tea, before continuing. "But there's Ian and though I thought I had feelings for him, I was wrong. I started realizing that Ian was a mere distraction, I was using him to forget Logan. Grant it, it was futile in the end because I would compare him with Logan a lot."
"His kisses, his hugs, his smile, his smirk, laughter – Everything."
"I love Logan Vale, I didn't think it was possible but I do, I love him a lot."
"You're in love with Logan, right? Then, tell him without thinking about the outcome. As for Ian, well – I personally feel like he's the wall you've had to block out your true expressions for Logan but you can't hide behind Ian and you can't live in the past." She said, seriously. "Is it going to be simple? No, no it won't but you tried, and that's what matters. Lift isn't bubbles and rainbows." At her reference, I laugh. "But, you must fight for what you want and if you want Logan then great, go get him."
"I-I can't." I whisper, "My Uncle and Aunt want me to move to New York, and I don't want to but-"
Vale stood from her seat, with a determined look. "You need to stop running Tia because as far as I know, running isn't help. You need to show that you're capable of fighting for what you want and that you're old enough to make decisions about your life. All in all Tia, it's time to stand for what you want and truly believe is right, because if you don't – the world isn't going wait, it'll keep on passing by." With a smile on her face, Vale started walking towards the door, and once she was next to it, she turned around to face me. "Good luck, Tia." She said, before leaving the café.
When Vale was no longer in the store, I felt a surge of confidence in me.
I don't care about the bet.
I don't care about the title.
I love Logan Sutherland.
"I love you."
"And I love you, Princess."
