January 3rd 2001
I arrived home to my cold apartment sometime last night after my short lived vacation. I spring out of bed when I hear my alarm clock ringing. I groan as I struggle to lift my head from my pillow.
I turn it off glancing at the time 6:00 am in large neon numbers. I swing my feet out over the edge of my bed grabbing the glass of water I left on my night stand. Without paying attention I know something over on my night stand. I pick it up to notice it was an old picture of me and Conner on our first day of college. The glass of the frame broke with the impact of it hitting the floor, much like our relationship.
I laugh to myself as I thrown it in the trash can. Was meaning to get rid of it anyway.
I begin to get ready for work making sure I like picture perfect as I remember Mr Haynes telling me we have important clients coming in this morning.
I look at my appearance in the mirror brushing off my pencil skirt and white blouse. It will do. I grab my bag checking that I have all my essentials.
With that I walk out of my apartment closing the door behind me. I walk out to my car before sitting in and putting the keys in the ignition. I put on a fake smile as I stare at myself in the mirror and remind myself how much I need the job to be able to afford the apartment across the lot.

I quickly grab a coffee from the café downstairs before rushing to the elevator in the office building.
" Thanks" I say thanking the man who held open the door for me I struggle to keep my bag on shoulder.
When I finally reach the floor of HarperCollins publishers. Stepping out of the elevator I weave my way through people greeting them as I pass on my way to my desk. I look into the glass office noticing Mr Haynes is in fact not here yet. I thank whoever above as I set everything down in my desk preparing my work to make it seem like i've been here for a while catching up on my emails.
" Ms. Daniel's welcome back, how was your vacation" I hear the voice of Mr. Haynes as I look up from my computer.
" Oh it was nice sir thank you for asking" I smile sweetly as I look back to my computer pretending to type.
" Great, well while it took you to get here this morning I went to the liberty of writing down the schedule for today" He smiles deeply handing me a sheet of paper.
"Thank you sir" I say quietly.
I watch as he walks into his office across the way. If you haven't put the pieces of the puzzle together yet, I work as a personal assistant for Mr. Todd Haynes, ceo of HaperCollins Publicists. But what I really wanna do is be the one getting published. I have loved writing ever since I can remember. I was never without a notebook jotting down ideas for novels or short stories.
But for now I just have to sit back and watch.
After about 10 minutes of aimlessly scrolling through my emails Mr. Haynes appears from his office.
" Cora, would you be a doll and prepare some refreshments our 9' o clock, they are on their way up" He smiles at me.
" No problem" I say standing up from my desk.
I hate it when he calls me doll, or darling or any pet name for that matter. He can be so condescending sometimes.
As I make my way to the kitchenette and prepare the refreshments I hear lots of chatter from the hallway. Okay, the schedule says it's a group of 4, I mutter to myself as I place 4 clean shiny glasses on the tray.
Walking towards the office I struggle with the tray as I meet the hardwood oak door of Mr Haynes office. With my elbow I manage to open the door. I scoot into the office seeing the backs of what I assume are men sat down across the desk.
" Thank you Cora you can just place them on the table in front there" Mr Haynes directs me.
I place 4 coasters down on the table along with the 4 glasses. I pick up the jug of water looking up at the first man. A man with short black hair and a nose ring. He nods his head indicating for me to fill his glass.
I look at the second man who has blonde hair and tanned skin. He gives me a smile as I fill his glass.
The next man with longer black hair and paler skin than the other two gives me a nod.
The last man....oh dear god, I trip over his leg spilling the jug of water on the rug.
" I am so sorry" I say embarrassed.
" For goodness sake Cora clean that up" Mr Haynes says annoyed.
I grab some tissues from his desk soaking up the water from the carpet as I look up at the man I almost drenched.
I think my heart just fell out of my ass. It's him.
He smiles at me knowing i'm probably screaming internally.
" Hello" he finally says with a smirk.
I shoot up fixing myself as I watch his eyes follow my every move.
" That is all Cora" Mr Haynes says dismissing me, but I still stand there.
" Cora, did you hear me" I hear his voice again.
" Yes..., yes sorry" I say practically running for the door.
Oh my god. Oh my god.
I slept with a client. This can not be happening.
I run back to my desk clicking on my emails trying to find who the hell these guys are.
Aha found it, I scan through the email.
Meeting with Mötley Crüe, January 3rd at 9.
Mötley Crüe the name sounds familiar but....
So of course I had to use my friend Google to help me. I type the name and read.
Mötley Crüe are an American heavy metal band formed in Hollywood, California in 1981.
Okay wow 1981 that's like 20 years ago...
So not only did this man lie about who he was he probably lied about how old he is aswell....but then again so did I, about who I was though I was honest in telling my age.
Okay I quickly type in members before I see his picture.
