SOTC: Love Somebody by Maroon 5
***Star got a message at 10 o'clock. Whatcha doin' Princess? It was Daniel.
What's that supposed to mean? She texted back.
idk. Was hopin you would.
Star laughed as if he could hear her. Lol, u flirting with me? she texted back.
Is it working?
Haha, very funny.
I meant what I said at the beach. You're pretty hot. So wyd Saturday?
Star thought about it. She didn't think she had anything important planned that day. Other than getting ready for school, she really wasn't busy. Before she could reply though, Daniel sent another text.
Here I'll call. That way it'll be easier to talk about this.
Then he was calling her. Biting her lip nervously, she accepted the call. "Hello?" her voice wavered a little.
"Hey," Daniel greeted. Star took a moment to think about how sexy his voice sounded on the phone. When he cleared his throat though, she returned back to reality. "So are you free on Saturday?"
"Are you asking me out?" she asked nervously. She could not believe this was happening.
"What does it seem like?" Star could picture that smile on his face, that sexy smile that he gave her at the beach. She just wanted to see it again. Was that a bad thing?
"Okay..." she said slowly. "I'll ask my mom." Quickly, she winced. She would ask her mom. That statement had made her cool points drop at least 50 points. Cool people didn't need to ask their parents' permission.
"That's fine. I'll just be waiting for your answer."
Star moved the phone away from her ear, pressed mute, and walked over to her mother's room. It was empty. With a sigh, Star trudged over to her little sister's room.
"Coco, where's mom? I need to ask her if I can go out Saturday."
Coco was sitting on her bed with her new boyfriend. She was in seventh grade but had failed her big test because she was too distracted by some boy so she failed. Now the boy she was distracted with wasn't even together with her anymore.
"Saturday? You can't," Coco said without looking at her sister.
Star gave her sister a confused look. "What? How would you know?"
Her back still facing Star, she said, "You're taking me to that concert on Saturday. That's how I know. Mom won't let me go unless you take me."
Star rolled her eyes. "Coco, I never get to go out. Can't you just do me this one favor and skip the concert so I can go out?"
Coco's head immediately snapped towards her sister. "Are you crazy?! No."
Her boyfriend just silently sat next to Coco, watching the two girls fight about Saturday night. As they fought, their voices got louder. Suddenly, his voice filled the room when he yelped, "Mrs. Romano! Hello!"
Immediately, both sisters quieted down. "What is going on in here?!"
"Mom!" Coco started. "Star is trying to take away my concert experience!"
