Chapter 14

After I came out of the locker room, I looked at Jaxon, who was now surrounded by girls. He was still sitting there, playing with dry leaves. He was so bored that he had almost completely plucked out the Bermuda grass.

As I approached him, the girls around him immediately looked my way, and there was a moment of silence until the surrounding crowd started murmur. 

Jaxon looked up and turned directly towards me; when he saw me, he immediately stood up and approached me.

“Sorry, did I keep you waiting?” I asked him as he came up to me.

Sinulyapan ko ang mga babaeng masama ang tingin sa akin. If looks could kill, Iʼd have been dead by now. I just ignored it because I donʼt get involved with weak girls like them. 

“Not really,” he replied, shaking his head. 

I leaned in closer to him and hooked my arm around his. “Shall we go? Theyʼre waiting for us!” I pulled him away from the girls, who were left looking surprised by my move.

Mamatay kayo sa inggit!

Napangisi ako dahil sa kalokohang ginawa ko. Masaya pala mang-asar, ‘no?

Jaxon shot me a puzzled glance, his brow furrowed as he gazed down at our locked arms. “Who did this to you?” he asked seriously in a concerned tone.

Napatingin din tuloy ako sa braso kong may kalmot. “Itʼs nothing.” I shook my head. “Just a catfight.” I winced as I removed my arm from him. 

That girl called me a bitch! Whatʼs her name again? Kyrie? Hah! Humanda siya sa akin kapag nagkita kami!

We reached the clinic without a word. But when we stepped into the room, I was shocked to see who was waiting. “Kanina pa kayo rito?” tanong ko sa kanila. 

“Bago lang,” Madeline replied. 

Sandali kong tinapunan ng tingin si Evan na natutulog nang mahimbing bago ako umupo sa paanan ng kama. It wouldʼve been rude to talk while they were standing and I was sitting, but I couldnʼt offer them a seat.

“How did you know I was here?”

“We heard from the students, so we came right away,” Darwin said. 

Ang bilis naman yataʼng kumalat ang tsismis. Daig ko pa ang artista kung maka-update sila sa buhay ko, ‘no? Is this what I get for associating with the Section Gang?

“Oh my gosh! What happened? Bakit ka namumula?” Eunice exclaimed, looking at me with concern. 

I glanced at Kuya Roman, whose serious face made it seem like Iʼd done something wrong again. Darwin, on the other hand, was leaning against the wall, arms folded, observing me in silence. 

“Allergic,” tipid kong sagot.

“Sa?”

“Sa mani.”

“Duh! Hindi ka kaya allergic sa mani!” Sofia chimed in, rolling her eyes at me while brushing her hair. Pasulyap-sulyap pa siya kay Josiah at nagpapa-cute.
