Captain Planet is a live-action comedy-adventure superhero film series made by Warner Bros. Studios, based off the 1990 animated series Captain Planet and the Planeteers. The series comprises seven films, beginning with Captain Planet: Defender of Earth in 2022, and ending with Captain Planet: The Final Battle in 2029. The series is meant to be a loose retelling of the original show, but with the Planeteers now being adults instead of teenagers. The series is also meant to be much darker in tone than the original show, with each film being rated PG-13. The series is also part of a loosely connected shared universe known as the "Cartoon Reboot Universe", consisting of several other live-action reboots of classic cartoons, such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Inspector Gadget, and Scooby-Doo.
