Loki Pov:
I am walking away from the living now, unsure of what I had just heard. She's a bleeding Dragonblood!? And the last of her kind too. I am wandering down halls now, still trying to understand (Y/n). She is obviously not telling the truth about something, but her mental barrier is to strong for me to break down. I could just bend her to my will, however the limiter has even somehow made that difficult. I am not attending the party tonight, that is something I can promise myself. Unlike (Y/n) I will never even hope to fit in, and trying to would be a waste of time.
My mind comes into focus as I realize I had been pacing this hallway for the fifth time. The door to (Y/n)s room is slightly ajar and I curse. Why! Why can't I stop thinking about her, why must I torment myself and her with my presence? But even as I am saying this, I am walking towards her door.
Something is wrong, and it takes my entire well being to not storm into that room on a murderous rampage. (Y/n) has her back to me, her hair is beautiful... and that dress on her is exquisite. Her hand is covering her mouth as she quietly sobs in... terror. Her body shakes and tears run down her face. She reminds me of a mourning dove... beautiful but broken. I want so badly to console her but knowing how she thinks of me I would only make things worse.
Her mental barriers have crumbled enough for me to see inside her mind. I draw back my power so she cannot sense me. A voice of a narcissist god whispers in the back of my mind, She's vulnerable you can slip into her mind right now and destroy her. I am shocked to realize that it's right. She is broken before me, her vulnerability is truly maddening. I crush the voice inside my head so that it will never be heard from again. I look at (Y/n) and send a wave of peace through her barriers. Her sobbing lessens and she appears to be alright, as I leave I feel somewhat lighter. Perhaps, I will be joining the party after all...

(Y/n) Pov
The party is nothing like I'd expect. There were so many people that I didn't know but Nat made sure I'd feel comfortable. My dress is fashionable to say the least, Natasha said it would look amazing with my skin color and I took her word for it. Music floated through the room and I closed my eyes, swaying a little. Music had almost always been my escape from reality, this music was different from mine but it had the same affect. I tilted my head and smiled, the voices of people had all but disappeared from my mind. I feel like I'm flying again only this time I'm soaring higher than I had ever dreamed of.
As the music comes to an end, I let myself fall out of my trance. People stare at me in shock as I find myself in the middle of the dance floor. I must have looked confuse, because Tony laughs and says, "Well, she can dance! Who knew?" The crowd starts cheering and I flush with embarrassment. Had I really... I am surrounded now by strangers, I cannot see Natasha or Banner anywhere. Fear kicks in and I force myself away from the crowd they are all a little more than tipsy which only fuels my speed. There seems to be no freedom from the onslaught of people and I am legitimately scared. I feel a large hand grip mine and suddenly, I am outside on a balcony.
I whirl to see the owner of the hand to be, Loki. I am so relieved to be free from the party that I could care less that Loki is here. He is stoick as he watches me, his eyes are filled with something that is hard to read. "Thank you." My voice seems to startle him.
He nods his head slightly, "My pleasure." I notice his suit and realize he was at the party as well. I flush at the thought that he saw me dance. He looks stunned by me, but he smirks. "You look beautiful (Y/n)." I must look shocked because he continues, "Just because we don't exactly see eye to eye does not in fact mean that I can't appreciate your beauty." I roll my eyes and stride lazily to the balcony rails.
Loki follows me and leans his back on the rails, there is a moment of quiet before I sigh, "I'm sorry for what I said today... you and I are cut from the same story."
He looks surprised. "I was... not expecting that." I shrug and continue to look out over the city. The night time bustle is comforting to me and I inhale deeply. We are silent once again but it is a good silence. He touches my arm and I look into his green eyes, "(Y/n), may I have this dance?" His hand is out in a friendly gesture, and I take it.

Loki Pov
We are surprising ourselves no doubt as we dance along the balcony together. (Y/n) is a natural dancer and we flow like water over the floor. She is a beautiful dove, her eyes meet mine and I smile. She tilts her head and smiles back, as we pull away she laughs, "Only I would dance with a god like you." Her words sting even though I know she did not mean it like that. She seems to notice my wince and continues, "I mean, only I would understand someone like you enough to dance with you." That made me feel a bit better.
"Does this mean, (Y/n), that we could possibly be allies?" I ask hopefully.
"It means, we can be friends." She smiles wide and I almost blush. She walks toward the door to go back inside, and as I follow her I make a promise to myself. My dear (Y/n), as long as I walk the lands of the living, I swear on my life that I will protect you and the ones you love. You are my friend, my dove.
