The first thing she noticed was that it was sunny. Much sunnier than it had been in Annabeth's dorm just a second (fifteen years?) ago. The sun was setting, shining its rays directly into Annabeth's eyes. Blinking away the sudden light, Annabeth saw that she was in what looked like a small gated courtyard full of weeds and bushes left overgrown. Beyond that was a row of houses, pressed together like they had been squeezed into a limited amount of space. The houses looked old and grimy, like they hadn't been properly taken care of in years. And then, of course, there was Athena.

Annabeth's mother stood directly in front of her, like she had known exactly where Annabeth would be. Blond hair and gray eyes just like Annabeth's shone with that extra gleam that goddesses tended to have. She was wearing jeans and a t-shirt like battle armor, and though Annabeth didn't see any weapons, she knew her mother had at least three.

"Come," Athena said, turning towards the gate.

Come? That was it? No greeting? No apologizing for basically disowning her that last time they had actually talked? Sure, they had fought side by side against the giants, and Athena had restored her invisibility cap, but she'd never actually rebuked what she'd said. Still, Annabeth followed her mother as they passed the gate and crossed the street.

Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, and Ginny were going downstairs for dinner when someone knocked on the door. Harry braced himself for Mrs. Black to wake up and start screaming as she had a second ago when Tonks knocked over the umbrella stand, but it didn't happen. Maybe the knock was too quiet?

Everyone's attention was turned to the door. Mrs. Weasey, Sirius, Lupin, and Tonks, the only adults in the room, exchanged glances.

"Are we expecting anyone else?" Sirius said quietly, tilting his head like a confused dog.

Shaking her head, Mrs. Weasley slowly walked up to the front door. When she got there, she looked through the peephole and let out a surprised, 'oh!'

"Molly, who is it?" Lupin asked, but Mrs. Weasely was already opening the door.

Harry blinked. He took off his glasses and cleaned them on the bottom of his shirt, then put them back on. They were still there.

Standing in the doorway was a woman who looked remarkably like Annabeth. She had the same blond curls, the same gray eyes, even a similar demeanor. She stood tall, tense like she was ready for a fight, and she held her head high, as if daring anyone to try to talk to her. But while Annabeth's gaze was calculating and always observing, this woman looked at everything with a sort of cold detachment, like she didn't care what was there.

Next to her was Annabeth herself, her Hogwarts trunk behind her along with her owl. Her eyes traveled along the interior of the house, taking in every detail.

"Oh, hello," Mrs. Weasley said nervously. She didn't seem to know what to do with herself. "Are you... are you Annabeth's mother?"

Harry's jaw dropped. Of course! Annabeth was the daughter of a goddess, and this woman looked just like her, too much to not be her mother. There was an actual goddess standing just feet from Harry and his friends.

Mrs. Weasley started smoothing down her robes and hair, fumbling with her wand as she did. Sirius looked at the goddess with a mix of interest and caution, taking a small step forward and then back like he didn't know what to do with himself. Lupin only looked with caution, like he was expecting an attack he could not stave off. Tonks just stood there like a deer in headlights, as if she wouldn't be noticed if she didn't move.
