General POV
Evelyn stood by the window watching as her stepdaughter, Hailey walked out from a car. She let out a sigh wondering whether or not to confront her when she got inside the house.
One thing Evelyn was so sure of was the glaring fact that;
"Hailey Thompson didn't like her!"
It was so obvious and she tried her possible best to change Hailey's view of her but damnit! It seemed to be an almost impossible mission. She understood the fact that Hailey was still grieving her mum and felt really bad that she would probably never see her again. But still is that even enough reason for the little child to detest her so much? She asked herself.
She knew the little kid felt she was a threat to her mum? Buh she wasn't.
At some point Evelyn began to wonder if Thompson ever revealed the actual truth to his daughter? The truth that she, Evelyn didn't chase her mum out of her home or cause their divorce. She hadn't even met the married version of Thompson. She had just a fling with him after a day of hanging out and she realized she really liked him. She decided to give the relationship a chance and that was how it all started. Three months later he proposed to her and they got married.
Did she love him? Yes she did but does she regret the whole arrangement?
Maybe she regretted it a little.
Mr Thompson, A Nigerian man, got married to an Australian woman who bore him Hailey. When Hailey was fourteen, they had a divorce. Hailey never got to know first hand what really transpired. All she knew was his father always talking to this fair American lady on a video call and promising her heaven and earth. Just a month after her mother parked out from the house he introduced Evelyn to her as her would be step mother.
"I hate you Evelyn or whatever you call yourself and I won't let you be a replacement to my mum!" Hailey's words resounded in Evelyn's ears. She has never felt that bad before and whenever she looked at Hailey's eyes, all she could see was absolute distaste and hatred.
Still she bore the pain, silently wishing Hailey would come around someday but she didn't.
No one knew the nature of job Mr Thompson was into but one thing was sure, he was a very successful and prominent man.

Mr Thompson had huge abs and bulgy muscles, he never for once missed his workout session, and Hailey got used to the routine too. She always worked out with her dad every single day except the times he would travel to some foreign country for business. She had a with an olive skin which looked tanned most of the time, her sporting habit making her breathtaking due to her not so prominent abs, slim waist and perfect hourglass body shape just too sexy for her age. She had very curly brown shoulder length hair which she often forced straight and dyed black. She never for once loved the colour of her hair.
Hailey had always been an intelligent kid, She was in love with languages, having a good hold on French, Spanish and Chinese language. She was conversant with her native language, igbo because she often visited her grandparents back home in Nigeria too.
All over social media she was an idol, Known for her dancing skills, multilingual talent and endurance in the gym.
Most of the times She and dad would visit Nigeria when she was younger, mostly because her mother loved adventure. Hailey really Loved it there, her home in Nigeria was quite comfortable with a huge house like her dad's house there in London so what else could she ask for?
But the most important thing in her life apart from her family was her diary and sketch pad. She loved those two books with everything in her and would document her daily life in her diary of illustrate them on her sketch pad.

Hailey opened the door and walked in."Hey dear, I made something. Do you care for some?" Evelyn asked a smile but Hailey walked past her without even muttering a silent greeting.
"Trust me you'll love it" Evelyn pressed further.
"Not hungry" Hailey replied rudely running up the stairs without sparing Evelyn a glance. It was her daily routine except her dad was home.
She would walk in without muttering a greeting, reject meals and spend the remaining part of the day in her room.
