Chapter 2: A Surprise Encounter

Start from the beginning

Burg's POV

"How can you not know?!" I demanded. "The only time I saw her was at breakfast, Burg. I'm not going to constantly be watching everymon," Cream replied calmly. I growled quietly. "Someone has to know where my sister went. It's dangerous in these woods," I said. "I'm sure she's fine," Cream said. "You just need to calm down..."

"Brother?" a voice said behind me. I turned around. "Rizer! Where we-" I started, before noticing who she was carrying. Foliage was unconscious and Vanilla was on her back, clearly shaken by something. "What happened?!" Cream asked worriedly. "We were attacked by a Zoroark," Rizer replied. "Foliage fought it off but fainted from exhaustion. We weren't able to make it to the town beforehand. I'm sorry, Cream."

"You guys getting to the town is the least of my worries," Cream said, grabbing Foliage with her ribbons. "I'm just glad you're all safe."

"Wait!" I shouted at Cream. "You told me you didn't know where she was!"

"I didn't know she had gone with them," she replied. "I had just asked Foly to get some food that I forgot to bring." She carried Foliage away, likely up to his room.

"I saw them walking by while I was reading and asked if I could join because I wanted to see if they had a bookstore," Rizer explained to me. I breathed deeply and tried to calm myself down. "...Alright. But you really had me worried!" I told her. "I'm sorry, brother," she apologized. "I didn't mean to worry you."

"I'm just glad you're alright," I said, hugging her. "Is Daddy going to be ok?" Vanilla asked shakily. "I'm sure he'll be fine, dear. He's just tired," Rizer told her. This seemed to calm her down a little bit. Rizer seemed to be very worried for the Leafeon as well. "Do you want to go check on him?" I asked them. "Yes. I want to make sure he wakes up fine," Rizer said as Vanilla nodded. We headed inside and up to his room, where we found Kindle and Cream watching him. Kindle noticed us and turned around. "Rizer, Nilly, are you two alright?" he asked. Nilly hid behind Rizer and I, shivering. Kindle was confused. "We're fine, Kindle," Rizer said. "I believe Vanilla is just afraid because the Zoroark had disguised itself as you." This shocked everyone, especially Kindle. "I'm so sorry, Nilly," he said. He wanted to hug her, I could tell, but she was too afraid. After a few seconds, she ran up to him and hugged him, tears in her eyes. "I-i-is it r-really you?" she asked. "Yes, it's me, Nilly. I'm Kin," he said, and we could tell he felt awkward telling her his name when she already knew it, but him saying it reassured her, and she hugged him tighter.

Kin's POV

Since Big Bro had fainted, Nilly's been really sad and worried. I've been trying to comfort her as much as I can, but she was afraid of me now because of that Zoroark, and there wasn't anything I could do about it. I was sitting on the couch hugging her when Sis walked in.

"Somemon seems upset," she commented, regarding Nilly. "What's wrong?" She sat down next to us. "She and Big Bro ran into a Zoroark, and now Big Bro is knocked out," I explained. She gasped. "Why was he in the forest in the first place?!" she asked. "Cream had asked him to pick up some of the food she had forgotten from the store," I explained. Sis joined me in comforting Nilly. We both hated seeing her upset like this.

Since Big Bro, Rizer, and Nilly had gotten home and told us about the Zoroark, Burg and Midnight have been watching the outside, making sure it didn't come back to attack us again. We were all worried about Big Bro's physical state, but Sis and I were really worried about Nilly's mental state too. I was hoping she would be willing to trust me again at some point.

We sat there for a few hours until we heard somemon come downstairs. We all turned to see Big Bro being supported by Rizer. "DADDY!" Nilly yelled happily, running up to him. He laid down and caught her as she ran at him, hugging her tightly. "Hey, honey," he said, smiling. "Big Bro! Are you alright?" I asked. "Yeah, I'm fine, just a little tired," he replied. "Solar Beam is REALLY tiring to use." I chuckled. "You make it seem easy," I remarked. "Well, all in a day's work," he laughed. Then he turned to the others.

"Can I talk to Kin alone for a moment?" he asked. Rizer and Sis nodded and left, but Nilly was nervous. "I want to stay with you," she said, hugging him tighter. He smiled. "Alright, you can stay," he said, knowing she was worried about him. He turned to me. "So... did they tell you?" he asked me. "Yeah," I replied. "How did you know it wasn't me?"

He chuckled lightly. "The fact that you didn't call me 'Big Bro' was the first red flag, and then I could tell that you weren't acting ANYTHING like yourself," he replied simply. "What, you think I don't know you well enough to know when somemon's impersonating you?" I smiled. "I know you do, I just wanted to know if the Zoroark was being obvious," I said. "They always are," he replied.

Nilly was smiling now, clearly happy that Big Bro was awake. She even seemed to trust me again, which I'm glad happened quickly. Then Big Bro turned towards Nilly. "Also, I still owe you for this morning," he said slyly, grinning at her. We both looked confused until Nilly's eyes widened. "Daddy, don't-" she started. "Too late," he interrupted, beginning to tickle her belly. She collapsed in a fit of giggles, unable to fight back against the attack. I laughed and joined in, getting her from the other side. "Dahahaddy, Bihig Brotheher, stohohop!" she wailed, trying her hardest to escape from the torment. "Nope~," Big Bro said playfully, continuing the attack. "As the saying goes, what goes around comes around. Karma is a pretty funny god." This went on for another half a minute before we stopped, and even then, Nilly kept giggling non-stop. It was the cutest thing I'd ever seen, and I was glad to be part of it. But more importantly, I was glad to see Big Bro alright and Nilly happy and trusting me again.

Today had been quite the emotional rollercoaster, but as long as we work together, we can make it through anything, no matter the difficulty.

Welp, here's another chapter with about 2800 words. I feel like I'm starting to branch off from ES more and more as the story goes on, and the Zoroark scene is my best representation for that. Coming up with these ideas is hard, but worth it in the end.

Let me know what y'all thought of it! Hope you enjoyed, Chapter 3 coming soon!
