Zoey and I are sitting in Steve's hospital room, waiting for him to wake up.
Music is playing softly in the room. Troubleman, the album I recommended to Steve when we first met.
I'm sitting in the chair on Steve's right, on my phone reading through the headlines from the battle.
Zoey sits on Steve's other side, curled up into a ball with her head resting on her hand.
It's been three days since the battle at the Triskellion, and the world has been going crazy.
HYDRA and SHIELD's secrets have been leaked by Natasha, and the country is in shock that most of America's secret intelligence has all been false.
Steve still hasn't woken up, but the doctor's say he's got a good chance.
It was scary, the way that we found them.
Zoey was crouched over a soaking wet and unconscious Steve, who's face was bloody and bruised, blood staining the front of his suit from a gun shot wound.
Zoey was sobbing and she wouldn't let me take him unless she helped me move him.
We carried him to the helicopter and flew him straight here, and Zoey hasn't left his side, using the building's facilities to shower and letting the doctors patch her up.
We've been talking a lot of the past couple of days. I visit Steve each day, and Zoey's always here.
She told me all about how they first met, and how she fell in love with him, all the miscommunication and the battle of New York. She even told me about how it was her who almost died that time around.
I look over at her sleeping face; it's relaxed, but she keeps furrowing her brow, frowning ever so slightly every few minutes.
I sigh, looking back at my phone, reading about the upcoming congress meeting.
"On your left." I raise my head at the familiar voice, grinning as his words.
"How are you feeling?" I ask Steve, who sighs deeply.
"Alive." He says, "Did we win?"
"Yeah, man." I nod, "We won."
He grins, before looking to his left, seeing Zoey asleep in the chair.
"She hasn't left your side, man." I tell him, "When we found you both she was sobbing over what we thought was your fucking dead body."
"How long was I out?" He asks slowly.
"Three days." I reply, watching his face. "She told me, Steve, about what happened to her."
"What?" He looks at me.
"Hear her out." I tell him, "She was always in it for you."
He frowns in confusion, but Zoey begins to stir before he can speak.
He looks back at her as I get to my feet, walking to the door.
"I'll leave you two alone." I say, "You've got a lot to talk about. I'll be back in a while."
