I watch her sat on the bed. Chipping the paint off her nails. I'd helped her paint those. She was so happy with how they'd come out. She'd had them done by Em but after being down with Cian, she'd stained them and Em was out of town until the rehearsal dinner and then it was too late. She's not freaking out. She's untouched. I know Antonio is there with her and I know he's spoken to her. What exactly got said in the 3 seconds he had her out of shot I have no idea but I'd had a text from him to tell me she was fine.
I'd have to remember to rip him to shreds for not warning me about this. He better have a good explanation.
"Can you hear me boss?"
"Yes Dorian." We pulled up in the tree line and I pushed the earphone deeper into my ear. "I want that house searching top to bottom. Let's make sure we wipe this out completely. You find her dad you don't touch him. Poppy needs to decide what happens with him. That goes for everyone. If Patrick O'Neill is killed during this, I'll kill all of you. I don't care who does it." There's a collection of grumbles, acknowledging my statement.
Chris had run a count of everyone in each house. He was expecting this because he'd doubled his usually high numbers of men at each house. Luckily my family had jumped in and were just as pissed as I was about this whole thing.
We approached the house slowly through the long grass and I smiled, seeing Poppy in the window. She looked down at the front of the house and moved away from the windows. She better keep her ass in that room and not move. I'll get to her.
We're a few feet away from the property line and I can hear a few men talking. Antonio is going on about whatever their plans are for Poppy and her mum. Keep her there, wipe us out, marry her off to Kostin, wipe their way through the families until they're at the top. They head back inside.
Noise starts to echo in my ear as Dorian mans the team at the other side. We're moving on my count. Both houses coming under siege at the same time so they cannot pass the information on to the other side. I count down slowly as we reach the building and on my count we're breaking down doors.
There's 50 men spread across both houses. 30 here. 20 at the other side since they don't have the girls. Pair that with the fact I have 6 men here and 4 at the other side, we are greatly outnumbered but I wasn't wasting time right now on gathering people from everywhere and I also had to make sure they weren't going to go for our home to get to Cian. It was a whole mess to organize so quickly. But I trust who's here with me.
"BASH!" Poppy screams and I'm jumping over the banister and dodging bullets as they fly towards me. I reach the top of the stairs and pull the trigger on two men trying to get into where she's still shouting me from. I walk down as she pulls it open. I grab her hand, keeping her close behind me as we go hunting for her mum. Pip opens doors, shakes her head when it's empty and I slaughter each man that tries to get up the stairs.
We reach the final room and I kick the door open, breaking the lock in one swift movement.
Delilah's on her knees with Pip's dad holding a gun to her temple.
"Drop the gun Patrick. It's over."
"No, it isn't. You're going to give me my daughter back and you're going to walk out of here like nothing happened."
"That's not how this works." I held the gun up at him.
"Your husband has a gun pointed at your father Poppy and you're not going to say a thing?" She breathes in, turns her head to me.
"Give me it."
"Pip-"
"Give me the gun." I sigh, dropping it and slipping it into her hand.
"Good girl Pop-" She raises it, pulls the trigger, and sends her dad to the floor, bullet straight through the middle of his head.
Delilah blubs and Poppy jumps into action, diving across the room to wrap her mum in her arms. Not a second of thought runs through her head. She just pulled the trigger that drained the life out of one of the 2 men that have fucked her entire life up and she didn't even flinch.
"It's okay mum. It's okay. He's dead. It's over. I fixed it. It's okay."
"Boss?" I turn around and almost laugh at a blood covered Antonio. "Left it a little late didn't you?"
"You don't suit blond Ant."
"Yeah well. Had to blend in a little didn't I? Look, he only told me about the plan when she was already on her way. He sent me out here a few days ago, been tracking all my texts and calls since Cian." I sighed.
"It's fine. Cars are on the tree line. Your dad's down there shitting himself."
"Oh fun. I'll be back soon." I sent my cousin off and turned my attention back to my wife who pulled at my arm from behind me.
"Yes Pip?"
"You know Lorenzo?" I chuckle.
"It's Antonio baby. He's my cousin. He's been an insider for years. I didn't know he'd dyed his hair though." She peers up at me as I wrap my arms around her. "Some wedding day."
"I am not doing the whole planning thing again because of this." I chuckled at her, lifting her face, and kissing her softly. "I'm serious."
"I know you are Pip. We'll have something quick in a church tomorrow before everyone goes home. Screw the reception. We'll do something another time as a huge normal party. You won't need to plan it."
"Boss?"
"Dorian." I reach up, push the earpiece back deeper into my ear. "We're all clear this end."
"Yeah. Um. Here too. Listen. You're not going to believe this."
