Confusion

I looked at you and I was lost with what I saw,
A blank canvas that was once traced with colours.
Your face was nothing but that of a mirage.
Nothing but a simple blur as if you were fog on a lens.

Your words were poisonous and cruel.
A message from you would send shudders through my bones.
You chewed up and spat out what we once were.
In response I suppose I spat in return.

You confessed what you did behind my back that day,
Left my heart broken and crumpled like waste on the ground.
I guess that I always knew the truth you told.
The truth still twists the mind of a broken boy.

I did not deserve what you did to me.
I loved you to my core and did most things right.
I made minor mistakes that anyone would.
Your mistakes were major as you destroyed me in your path.

I look at you now that you're a friend ive made.
We laugh and we joke as if what happened never did.
However your face is still a mirage.
I still debate who it is that I'm looking at.

I still struggle to trust the words that you speak.
But that broken boy is a braver one now.
You look to me with love in your eyes.
I look at you back and I feel nothing.

I suppose its true that you reap what you sow.
For I believe that your loss was greater than mine.
I wish you the best but you'll never have me back.
For you could never compare to the one I love now.
