"Oh gee, my uhmmm...I just opened my laptop to check, Sensei. But I swear to you, I really sent both the synopsis and chapter one in your e—"
"Just get over here in my office and we'll talk about your future." After the woman said this, the connection hang up.
The emerald-eyed quickly panicked as she heard what her respected woman has said. They'll talk about her future? What could that have meant?
She then turns back to the laptop...which still hasn't opened.
"Ugh seriously? You chose not to cooperate right now?"
"Whatever. Let's skip breakfast and head to her office now." She muttered and directly changed her clothes to her uniform and immediately ran down their apartment.
It practically took her fifteen minutes to get to the main office building of the Raito Writers Publishing Company. She ran to the elevator, only to see that it's already full.
"Wow. Just wow, Sarina Samidori. First the laptop, now the elevator." Hence, she decided to run the stairs towards the office of the editor-in-chief that she needs to meet...on the 13th floor.
Panting and sweating hard, she managed to get there...with both her sanity and soul intact.
"You're late." She immediately heard the woman before turning her chair around to see...a haggard Sarina.
"Yes, I am, sensei. And I apologize." She said and started wiping her sweat with her bare hands. Which disgusted the older female.
"Hmm. Here you go." Sumire said and put a box of tissue for the young woman to use, who didn't hesitate to get some.
"Thank you, Sensei."
"Take your seat." As soon as she heard the woman's commanding voice, she got more nervous that she gulped. However, she still gladly listened and took her seat. Then, she watched the woman clasp her hands together under her chin. A gesture she is used to seeing from her superior who usually does this whenever she's serious.
"Do you know why I called you? Which by the way, took you seventeen rings before you answered?" She gulped again before nodding. As her boss said, she overslept today of all deciding days of her life.
"F-For the manuscript...sensei." She guessed which narrowed the woman's eyes.
"Correct. Which I told you I would be waiting until 7 o'clock this morning, yes?" It took her short milliseconds before nodding. That's how nervous and intimidated she is.
"Now, explain to me why it is 7:22 AM in my watch and I haven't received a thing." Her emerald eyes immediately batted to her superior's gaze upon hearing that unexpected news.
"Th-That's...impossible...sens—" To her shock, the woman turned her monitor to Sarina. It is showing a window...with nothing of her name nor her email or any proof that she indeed sent it.
