Chapter 25: Darkness of Oarario

"If you guys were to accept the war game against Apollo then-"

Before she could even finish the sentence objections flew across the room.

"Don't be ridiculous!"

"The power imbalance is too great!"

"You expect me to put Bell in danger like that?!"

Clack clack. A strange light tapping sound cut through the voices of objection.

Rimuru, disguising himself as Ciel, lightly tapped the table with a finger and despite the soft sound it resonated grabbing everyone's attention easily.

A soft smile appeared on his manufactured face, "Now now I understand your objections, however, if you'd please listen to what we have to say I believe you'll see you have more than a solid chance at this," He beamed at the group instantly killing all desire to argue with his "Kind older sister energy" as he liked to call it. "Amerasu if you would please,"

"Yes, well to put it bluntly they've basically forced your hand already," she sighed. "With them hunting you down throughout the city they essentially made it so the war game is the better option here. Because either they continually hunt you down until they send hestia back to Tenkai and take you by force, or on the off chance you manage to beat them back they just appear all over again sometime later."

The group nervously took in her words. "While Ciel and Sophia were out making sure to bring you guys back I ran a little errand and it seems as though the Adevnerurs guild is refusing to get involved, probably because of the Apollo familia pulling some strings with the higher-ups." she continued. "The other gods are too excited at the prospects of a war game to help so that leaves you guys with either the option to continue getting hunted until they overpower you or to try your odds in a war game and hope for a win, no matter how small the odds of that occurring may seem," Amaterasu finally finished.

Everyone stayed silent for a moment. Then they turned their head to face Hestia, the one who had to make the decision.

She was looking down toward the coffee table, fear and uncertainty marked her usually kind features. "But how could we...possibly win?"

Amaterasu closed her eyes. "Frankly the odds are next to none,"

Hestia's expression darkened. "At least as things stand now," Hestia flinched.

"What do you mean."

"There are things you can do to increase your chances... there always is. We won't get involved directly, but we can help prepare you to the best of our abilities if you choose to fight in the war game."

Hestia closed her eyes for a moment as she gathered her resolve, she lifted her head eyes with a fire in them, "alright we'll fight,"

Amaterasu smiled. "Alright, let's get started then,"

(Rimuru POV)

I stared up at the sky silently as thought about everything going on. My disguise as Ciel was still on, I had relinquished my room to Hestia and Bell under the pretext of me not needing sleep in the first place.

Well, that's what I told Amaterasu anyway, Hestia and Bell still weren't aware that was even my room technically. It was just another guest room to them.

The two had agreed to stay here, while everyone else returned to their respective familia halls, well except for Liliruca who was staying with us as well in Sophia's room while Sophia slept with Amaterasu.

I had trouble reading how Sophia felt about the whole thing, but well she accepted it easily enough.

In any case, we had finished strategizing for the most part. I'll be honest the chances of their victory seemed rather small. The power imbalance was great and not so easily overcome. But well that also made them arrogant and reckless. If we could use that to our advantage well things may be a little easier, but still...
