𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐖𝐏𝐄𝐑, sister of Cressida Cowper, has not been seen in London since she was fourteen years old. Having been sent away by her family to live with their grandmother after displaying somewhat 'rebellious nature' (although the rebelliousness in question was merely reading and expressing her opinions). But before she had left, she had been great friends with Eloise Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington and practically a ward of the Bridgerton family themselves after Viscountess Violet Bridgerton became incredibly fond of the young blonde girl. Particularly after noticing the way she was treated by the Cowper's, who fawned over Cressida who seemed only to be self-centered, rather ill-mannered girl in Violet's eyes while Catherine was kind-natured, endlessly endearing and far too smart for her own good. Attributes which Violet adored. And as did the rest of the Bridgerton's who became as close as family to Catherine.
𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐎𝐍 knew Catherine Cowper as someone who was well loved by his family but practically unknown to him as he always distanced himself from others after the death of his father and although found the girl endearing, he couldn't say he shared the same grief his family did after she was sent away. Until, 1814, when she re-appeared quite changed from her years with her grandmother who had once been nicknamed, the lady of thorns. Coincidentally, 1814 was the same year Violet Bridgerton announced that Anthony was looking for a Viscountess. Funny how life works out...
