I saw my wife going from looking at me with love to looking at me with disbelief in seconds. I knew I fucked up badly in that moment.
"I'm sorry, love. I just wanted a little break and I got away with the flow. I knew it was very immature of me and that I shouldn't have done that. But please, forgive me. I swear I'll make everything alright." I tried to reach for her hands again, but she kept pulling them away from my reach.
"Do you even have any idea what day it is in two days?" She asked me with a tone so cold, it pierced my heart.
Should have thought about it before lying to her! My mind mocked me and a lone tear escaped my eye. But that was nothing compared to all the ones falling from her beautiful brown orbs.
All because of me! I'm an idiot!
"I....what is it?" I honestly didn't know and a wave of pain crossed her face.
And it hurt me as well!
"Try to follow the intentional news tabs sometimes, if you get time from your casinos and parties, Mr. Rich CEO. The one who doesn't even care if his wife is getting the biggest award of the decade in her field." Her words made my brains stop for a few seconds.
Biggest awards of the century? My wife?
After a loud gasp, a smile broke on my face. The proud-husband smiles. But it went away as soon as it came because it was not the time.
"I- wow. That's...that's wonderful Anu! I'm so happy for you! I'm so proud of you." I started to go and hug her but she dodged me again. "I have been trying to contact you for last seven days for the same. You didn't care then. Why care now? Just because now you thought you almost lost me?" Her words sting me, but somehow they were true.
And I didn't had the guts to look into her eyes.
"Time out now, idiotta! Get lost and let me have some alone time with my favourite person." Dhara said from the door making me frown.
"Also, since you have hurted your wife so much already, make sure not to hurt her more. There's only so much a person can take before breaking." And with that, she licked me out of the room.

Dhara's words kept on ranging in my mind the whole night. And as much as I wanted to deny it, it was the truth.
I never wanted to hurt Anushka. Not even a little. I just wanted a little break from work.
But it was so stupid of me to seek the break in foreign trip then spending time with my family. Our movie marathon nights and ice cream battle since the time we were dating.
I missed it all. And I'm an idiot.
But not anymore! I have already missed a lot of time in last few months, spending more time with my friends then my family. And this one week was the final piece of my sins.
Now, I'm going to give my fullest to the person who deserves all my love and appreciation of this world.
My Beautiful, talented wife. My cherry.
I will cherish her the best way she deserves. And I want to.
I might be an idiot earlier to ignore her, but not anymore. And I'll earn her forgiveness too.
