Kai

The next morning, I was woken up by the sound of my phone ringing. I groggily picked it up and saw that it was Angelina calling. "Hey," I said, my voice still heavy with sleep.

"Hey, I'm coming over with my mother. Is that okay?" she said, her voice full of excitement.

"Your mother?" I asked, surprised. Angelina had never mentioned her mother before, and I was curious to meet her.

"Yeah, my mother, Maria. She wanted to meet you," she replied.

"Sure, that's fine. See you soon," I said, trying to sound casual even though I was feeling a mix of nervousness and curiosity.

A few hours later, Angelina arrived at my mansion with her mother. I greeted them at the door, and when I saw Maria, I was taken aback by how much she resembled Angelina. They had the same striking features and captivating eyes that seemed to hold a world of mystery.

"Hello, it's a pleasure to meet you, Maria," I said, offering my hand.

Maria smiled warmly and shook my hand. "Likewise, Kai. My daughter has told me so much about you," she said.

As we sat down, Maria's gaze shifted between Angelina and me. "So, how did you two meet?" she asked, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Angelina blushed and looked down, clearly embarrassed by the question. I chuckled and said, "Well, it's a bit of a long story. Let's just say we had a complicated start. Angelina here, uh, accidentally killed my brother."

Maria burst into laughter, and Angelina covered her face with her hands. "That's my girl," Maria said, still chuckling. "Enemies to lovers, huh? Sounds like a classic love story."

I grinned, relieved that Maria had a good sense of humor about it all. "Yeah, you could say that," I replied.

We spent the rest of the afternoon talking and getting to know each other better. Maria was an intriguing woman with a fascinating outlook on life. She had a certain aura of wisdom and charisma that made her a captivating presence.

As I watched Angelina and her mother interact, I couldn't help but feel a deeper connection to Angelina. Seeing her with her mother made me understand her even more - the strength, the independence, and the fierce loyalty she possessed were all traits she inherited from Maria.

As the day came to a close, Maria gave me a knowing look and said, "Take good care of my daughter, Kai. She may be strong and independent, but she also has a heart that's vulnerable. I can see that you make her happy, and for that, I'm grateful."

I nodded, understanding the responsibility that came with loving Angelina. "I promise I'll take care of her," I said sincerely.

Angelina blushed at her mother's words and smiled at me. "You better," she teased.

As Maria left, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the chance to meet her and get a glimpse into Angelina's past. She had brought a new dimension to our relationship, and I knew that having her approval meant a lot to Angelina.

As the evening settled in, Angelina and I found ourselves alone again. I pulled her close and whispered, "You know, you look so much like your mother."
