On his way back to Calgary Red's backside started to hurt. He was almost within city limits and it wasn't much farther to the clubhouse. He tried to ignore it but it became a searing, burning pain. Red pulled over abruptly, almost ditching the bike, and felt his asscheeks frantically. Reaching into his back pocket he pulled out the rose Quartz marble his mother had snuck in there. Once it was out of his pocket it was cool to the touch, but as he went to put it in his saddlebag it turned red-hot again causing him to drop it. He bent to retrieve it and heard his phone ringing. It was his mother.
"Mum?"
"Alaric!" She was out of breath and sounded scared.
"Mom, what's wrong?"
"She needs you. Go now! Go to her. Oh, Alaric, the blood... It's all over the trees..." She dropped the phone.
Red hung up. His mother often fainted during her visions. She would be okay. But Elodie was in trouble.
He placed the marble back in his pocket and started up his bike, revving the engine hard. Dropping it into second gear, he sped off down the highway, saying her name over and over in his head to keep calm.
